Every Assassin in The Accountant Movies Ranked From Worst to Deadliest

The “Accountant” series has grown more extensive after the debut of “The Accountant 2,” introducing fresh characters who pose significant dangers to Christian Wolff and his sibling, Braxton. The sequel finds Wolff working for the Deputy Director of FinCEN, tasked with finding an immigrant family that his late predecessor, Ray King, was investigating. However, as Wolff unravels the mystery, he discovers that a much deeper, sinister plot is at play. Whether “The Accountant 2” surpasses the original film is up for debate, but its narrative undeniably presents greater risks.

In contrast to the absence of Anna Kendrick’s character, who significantly enriched the original film, The Accountant 2 boasts a talented ensemble cast, featuring familiar faces and robust characters that challenge Medina’s financial investigations. The new additions substantially broaden Wolff’s criminal network, providing intriguing insights into his business dealings, which were previously shrouded in mystery. This sequel delves deeper into Wolff’s character, making him more relatable and focusing on his bond with Braxton as the emotional core of the story.

4. Cobb

In “The Accountant 2”, Cobb was a recently introduced character who played the role of a formidable assassin. Regrettably, due to limited screen time, he didn’t have the chance to fully establish himself as a significant threat to either Wolff or Braxton. It should be noted that Cobb was the one who had Alberto, Anais’ son, in custody at the Juarez prison camp. When Christian and Braxton stormed the facility during the third act, Cobb met his end. Despite being killed before the climax, Cobb demonstrated all the hallmarks of a seasoned hitman: he was combat-skilled, emotionally detached, and adept at quick decision-making.

It’s unfortunate that the creators of The Accountant decided to write off Cobb’s character so neatly in The Accountant 2, as he had the potential to play an important role in a hypothetical The Accountant 3. His demise was necessary to wrap up the story, but it could have been accomplished without completely erasing him. If his connection to King’s death had been leveraged, he would have made a compelling antagonist for the third movie, as Wolff’s animosity towards him would have stemmed from personal reasons.

3. Braxton

Among the assassins in “The Accountant,” Braxton stands out as particularly likable and charismatic, but so far, he hasn’t shown himself to be stronger than Christian or Anais. What hinders Braxton from becoming an exceptional assassin is his emotional vulnerability; he tends to let anger dictate his actions, which is a luxury that can’t be afforded when dealing with high-profile targets.

By the way, Braxton shares the same comprehensive military training and firearms expertise with his brother, given that they were both brought up in a highly rigorous setting designed to sculpt them into elite soldiers. Notably, he has accumulated more field experience than Christian, who tends to operate covertly without resorting to violence. However, what sets him apart is his lack of emotional detachment, a trait that other assassins exhibit effectively in executing their missions.

2. Christian Wolff

Christian Wolff, portrayed by Ben Affleck in “The Accountant,” delivers one of his finest performances. He skillfully depicts Wolff’s neurodivergence, making it noticeable yet never intrusive. This character tends to approach things in a systematic, linear manner, often neglecting people’s emotions, and he possesses an uncanny ability to perceive patterns that remain hidden to others at first.

His exceptional skills as an assassin stem from several factors, and “The Accountant” provides intriguing insights into how Wolff’s detached personality is shaped by his background and genes. Despite being a cold-blooded killer, he’s also a character we can connect with, striving for connections and professional success – which makes him an engrossing lead character.

1. Anaïs

In “The Accountant 2”, Daniella Pineda’s character Anaïs is the first to offer a significant challenge to Christian and Braxton within the series. Although she doesn’t engage them head-on, she possesses an impressive combination of strategic intellect and formidable fighting abilities that keep her opponents at arm’s length and always one step ahead.

Beyond this, Anaïs possesses Savant Syndrome: a rare condition that grants her extraordinary physical strength and mental resilience after a life-altering brain injury. This unique trait instantly sets her apart from other assassins within the franchise, as she demonstrates an innate genetic advantage over them in every encounter. This is evident through her fight with Marybeth Medina, her ruthless dispatch of Burke’s men, and her chilling, strategic exchange with Ray King at the film’s outset.
