Carnie Wilson Shocks Fans Revealing Her ‘Sexy’ Beach Boys Uncle Gave Her Butterflies
During a reminiscent stroll, singer Carnie Wilson disclosed an intriguing detail concerning a relative of hers.
57-year-old singer of the band Hold On confessed that he would get nervous in the presence of his late uncle Dennis Wilson, a member of The Beach Boys, prior to his passing. Meanwhile, his daughter Lola is stepping into a singing career.
She mentioned that her uncle was a captivating, alluring man who remained a mystery to her, in a conversation with Billy Corgan, the lead vocalist of Smashing Pumpkins (age 57), during his “The Magnificent Others” podcast on Wednesday.
Reflecting on my past, I would often find myself fluttering like a winged creature when in his presence – Dennis, the young man I admired deeply. His striking good looks and tender heart were truly captivating, while all three of them possessed immense, untapped talents that shone brightly.
Carnie is the offspring of Brian Wilson, a legendary member of The Beach Boys who is now 82 years old, and Dennis, similarly to her father, faced battles with substance abuse related to drugs and alcohol.
On December 28, 1983, he tragically drowned in the ocean waters of Marina Del Rey, CA, after having consumed large amounts of alcohol prior to jumping from a boat at the age of 39. His widow and their one-year-old son, now 42-year-old Gage, were left behind.
The individual in question was not only a renowned singer but also a father to Jennifer Wilson (age 58), Michael Wilson (age 54), Carl Wilson (age 52), and Scott Wilson, all of whom are from his past marital ties and romantic associations.
The Beach Boys were formed in 1961 and quickly reached fame with their song Surfin’ USA.
Their struggles were reported in the 2024 documentary The Beach Boys.
Mentioning herself, Carnie (age 55) reminisced about her renown as a singer alongside her sister Wendy Wilson and childhood friend Chynna Phillips (both aged 57). Additionally, she honored her late uncle Carl, who passed away due to lung cancer in 1998 at the age of 51.
Carnie praised Carl, commenting on his exceptional talent as both a gifted author and vocalist. She spoke highly of his unique style, remarking that he possessed an exceptional sound. Moreover, she noted his guarded nature.
She expressed that her father, Brian, wasn’t typically around because he tends to be quite secluded, which is a result of his mental health struggles, and at present, he’s under a conservatorship due to severe cognitive disorders like dementia, as indicated in the court records.
However, he mentioned, “I track your progress each week on the charts,” indicating that he had been observing them secretly from his hidden vantage point. Yet, Carl encouraged, “You need only to continue moving forward.

‘I miss him very much,’ the still grieving niece said of the God Only Knows singer.
She shared that he’s often on her mind, with photographs scattered throughout her home serving as constant reminders. Moreover, she expressed deep feelings of missing her father’s siblings, saying it’s quite significant.
Carl lent his voice as a backup singer for Wilson Phillips on their popular Christmas song “Hey Santa.” To this day, Wilson Phillips continue to create music collectively and plan to perform at multiple venues throughout the summer season.
84-year-old original member Mike Love, along with the present lineup of The Beach Boys, are planning a tour across the United States called “Sounds of Summer Tour,” traveling from one city to another.
