Hugh Jackman’s Raunchy Onstage Romance Sparks Drama With Sutton Foster Amid Breakup Rumors

In a new off-Broadway production, Hugh Jackman, known for his role as Wolverine, uses strong language, discusses explicit sexual topics, and shares numerous passionate kisses with a younger cast member. This performance might be somewhat intense or uncomfortable for his girlfriend to watch.

56-year-old Jackman portrays Jon, a three-time divorced college professor and novelist, who ventures into an illicit relationship with his 19-year-old student Annie, played by Ella Beatty, in the passionate two-person drama titled ‘The Sexual Misconduct of Middle-Class Society’.

2020’s acclaimed play penned by Canadian playwright Hannah Moscovitch made its premiere on April 28 at New York’s Minetta Lane Theatre, catching the eye of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, who attended on a Tuesday evening to show their support for their dear friend.

This week, Jackman’s partner, Sutton Foster, who is 50 years old, was spotted backstage as well. There have been whispers that their new relationship, which they made public in January, may be facing challenges according to recent gossip.

In this new production, Foster might find it a bit challenging to watch due to numerous intimate scenes between Jackman and Beatty. At one instance, they were seen passionately kissing on a desk, with Beatty wrapping her legs around Jackman while wearing minimal clothing.

In another setting, Warren Beatty’s daughter is depicted sitting sandwiched between Jackman’s legs, clad only in her undergarments and a red coat, while he affectionately kisses her head.

And it’s not just the steamy scenes that are X-rated. 

In addition, Jackman frequently uses strong language, incorporating multiple instances of the F-word and even providing explicit details about a college cheerleader performing an act on him.

Set in a pre #MeToo era, the story explores discussions around sexual consent and power dynamics. 

In a nutshell: Annie, who harbors affection towards Jon, immerses herself in his romantic literature and daydreams about him. Simultaneously, Jon is grappling with his burgeoning emotions for Annie and contemplating the potential complications of a teacher-student relationship, all while wrestling with the complexities of his impending third divorce.

Like Jon, Jackman is working through a separation. 

In September 2023, the actor known for playing The Wolverine publicly confirmed that he and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness, aged 69, were ending their 27-year marriage, as they had been married just once.

In a shared announcement, they stated that they would be making a change and have opted to go their separate ways to focus on personal development independently.

They share adopted children Oscar, 24, and Ava, 19. 

In March, it was reported by The Daily Mail that Jackman and Furness have not filed for divorce due to difficulties in reaching a consensus regarding the division of their shared possessions.

‘Deborra-Lee feels entitled to more money than Hugh is willing to offer,’ the source said. 

It is said that Jackman and Foster’s relationship began during the closing stages of his previous marriage. They initially crossed paths when they starred together in the 2022 Broadway production of The Music Man. However, they didn’t make their relationship public until recently, when photographs surfaced of them holding hands earlier this year.

Foster filed for divorce from her now-estranged husband Ted Griffin, 54, in October last year.

The source added: ‘There’s a lot of harsh judgement about them online.’

Alongside concerns about being involved in the ongoing and complicated legal dispute between his friend Blake Lively and her It Ends with Us co-star Justin Baldoni, whom she has alleged for sexual harassment, Jackman is skillfully managing a multitude of tasks.

Baldoni has responded with a counterclaim, alleging that Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds have made defaming statements against him. This heated dispute is set to go to court on March 29, 2026. However, all parties involved have refuted these accusations.

According to a recent disclosure made to The Daily Mail, both Jackman and Swift are expected to receive a court summons.
