The movie is scheduled to premiere in the UK on its original November date, but there’s a chance that might shift as well.
Bugonia” is a reimagining of the South Korean comedy-sci-fi film “Save the Green Planet!”. It tells the story of two individuals consumed by conspiracy theories, who abduct the CEO of a dominant corporation, as they suspect her to be an extraterrestrial on a mission to annihilate Earth.
In addition to Jesse Plemons, who has previously collaborated with both Stone and Lanthimos in their recent project “Kinds of Kindness” last year, as well as on previous films such as “The Favourite” and “Poor Things,” the movie also features Meryl Streep. It’s worth noting that “Poor Things” brought Stone her second Best Actress Oscar win last year.
Succession and The Menu‘s Will Tracy has written the screenplay for Bugonia.
Stone’s upcoming schedule is packed with exciting projects, such as the follow-up to her 2021 smash hit “Cruella” and Ari Aster’s highly-anticipated film titled “Eddington”.
The story is based in 2020 and centers around a conflict between a small town mayor and sheriff, featuring actors such as Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Austin Butler, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, Clifton Collins Jr, and Luke Grimes.
The first preview of the upcoming movie has just been released, and it will make its debut at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, where it has been nominated for the highly esteemed Palme d’Or award.
Bugonia will be released in US cinemas on 24 October and UK cinemas on 7 November.
