Radio 1’s Greg James halts show for big co-star announcement: “We’ve got breaking news”
BBC Radio 1 DJ Greg James halted his show to share some “breaking news” about his co-star.
On his morning program at the radio station, where he’s been hosting since 2018, Greg announced the delightful news: Roisin Hastie, one of his colleagues, has given birth to her second child, who arrived in the world alongside husband Jimmy Blake.
Is it possible for us to discuss my former partner Roisin Hastie? I shared some exciting new developments with our audience yesterday morning.

I’ve recently learned some delightful news – Roisin’s cherished spouse, Jimmy Blake, informed me that their baby boy, Arlo, was born. At exactly 4:55 this morning, adorable Arlo made his grand entrance into the world.
Afterward, Greg made it clear that Roisin would resume her duties with the morning news once she’s back from her maternity leave, and he followed up by providing additional information about her delivery process.
Working for 37 hours straight. Incredible! I’d like to give a shout-out to the midwives, Eve and Jemma, who it seems were present throughout the entire process,” he continued. “I also plan to raise little Arlo as an attentive listener.
In 2022, Roisin, along with Jimmy, became parents to a baby girl named Isla. She posted a piece of Greg’s announcement about this on her Instagram, expressing her joy that her midwives were mentioned on the radio for their work.
A shout-out goes to midwives! It was wonderful to read about Jemma and Eve’s experience, while we were cradling our newborn in the hospital, as they shared it on BBC Radio 1, she noted in the post’s caption.
I’ll forever cherish a unique spot in my heart, as you both played significant roles during an extraordinary chapter of my life and helped bring Arlo into our lives safely.
You helped me find confidence in myself, and together we formed an extraordinary partnership when the sun rose on May 1st, 2025.
I truly can’t express my gratitude adequately, but perhaps a mention on national radio might bring a smile to your face and convey just a fraction of the admiration I hold for you.
For our wonderful midwife Chrissy, we followed the same procedure during Isla’s birth, an experience I will never forget. I am eternally grateful to you all for ensuring my babies entered the world safely.
