Divisive Netflix hit storms to the top of the trending chart with 10.1 million views in just 4 days

You season 5 finale spoilers follow.

Divisive Netflix show You has stormed to the top of the streamer’s trending charts.

Last week marked the release of the finale for the thrilling series, and judging by the response, it appears to be a massive success among audiences. In just its initial four days, it attracted an impressive 10.1 million viewers.

In other words, it occupies the number one spot on the English TV rankings, and its popularity has managed to get the initial season back into the Top 10 for the first time in over two years. The series as a whole has also accumulated more than half a billion views.

As a devoted reader, I find myself immersed in the chilling world of “You,” a captivating series adapted from Caroline Kepnes’ books. In this thrilling tale, I step into the shoes of Penn Badgley as the enigmatic Joe Goldberg, a character who regrettably has a penchant for murdering women.

Throughout its broadcast, the series has faced criticism due to portraying its main character’s romanticized image, even though he committed heinous crimes.

A heads-up: Since the final episode has caused quite a stir among both fans and experts, with some adoring it and others criticizing it, there may be some significant spoilers coming up.

In that particular episode, it’s payback time for Joe as a new character, Bronte, played by Madeline Brewer, confronts him. This is due to the murder of Guinevere Beck, which happened during season 1.

In a heated struggle, his efforts to harm her prove unsuccessful as she ultimately gains control, firing a shot that results in the loss of a crucial body part for him. Before being arrested by police and subsequently given a life sentence, he was taken into custody.

Badgley has justified the conclusion by stating to Deadline: “It raises the issue of how we deal with individuals similar to Joe. This is a matter of criminal justice, of transformative justice as it’s occasionally called, vengeance, and retribution.

What’s the most suitable choice in this scenario, considering both Joe and the person who might have to deal with the consequences? If someone were to take his life – let’s assume it would be a woman in this case – well, that action would then place upon her the burden of murder. I don’t think that’s fair. Torture or prison seem equally unjust. So, what’s left? Castration.

You seasons 1-5 are streaming on Netflix.
