Joker Star’s Life in Shambles After Car Stolen from LA Home
Joaquin Phoenix is addressing the aftermath of the critical and financial flop of Joker 2 by dealing with a more personal issue, which is on a smaller scale.
This week, I, a passionate admirer, found myself in an unexpected encounter with burglars at the LA-region residence that’s home to a 50-year-old Oscar laureate. Trusty TMZ shared this news tidbit on Thursday, based on reliable law enforcement sources.
On a Monday, it appears that Phoenix’s vehicle was taken from his residence, and authorities are currently looking into this alleged theft.
DailyMail.com has reached out to the actor’s representative for comment.
It seems that Phoenix owned a 2022 Volvo SUV, estimated to be worth approximately $60,000, which was found parked outside his property, but it’s uncertain whether it remained on his land or was positioned on the road in front of it.
One of the actor’s workers alerted authorities about the theft, as they had stepped away and discovered upon their return that the vehicle was no longer there.

According to law enforcement officials, Phoenix was not present during the theft, allowing the person who found out about it to submit a police report directly.
So far, there haven’t been any arrests, though the investigation is said to be continuing.
It isn’t yet certain whether the person who stole the car did so in the late afternoon on Monday or possibly during the previous night.
It’s also unknown if Joaquin’s wife Rooney Mara was home when the theft was discovered.
The two had been living together since 2017, about a year after they started dating.
In 2019, Phoenix and Mara became engaged, and the following year, in August, they gave birth to their son, whom they named River, honoring Phoenix’s deceased brother.
During the past year, the couple experienced a significant milestone as they added another member to their family – a child born in June whose identity (name and gender) remains undisclosed. The crowning achievement of this momentous year was their long-awaited wedding in September.
In 2013, the duo collaborated on the critically acclaimed romantic drama “Her,” and since then, they have appeared together in the movies “Mary Magdalene” and “Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far On Foot.

In the beginning, the biblical movie was made before they became a couple, but it came out on screen much later. Conversely, the second film was produced when they were already an item.
After the enormous success of Joaquin’s 2019 movie, Joker (which earned over $1 billion on a reasonable budget), he has appeared in several low-budget films that have underperformed at the box office.
In 2021, he made an appearance in Mike Mills’ low-budget dramedy titled “C’mon C’mon.” Two years later, he resurfaced with two films: first, a black comedy named “Beau Is Afraid,” directed by Ari Aster; and second, a historical epic called “Napoleon,” helmed by Ridley Scott.
The two movies garnered mixed responses from critics, and unfortunately, Beau Is Not Afraid didn’t manage to recoup its initial $35 million investment. On the other hand, Napoleon reportedly fell short even with a box office revenue of $221.4 million when considering promotional expenses, as per Deadline.
Nevertheless, Apple, the film’s distributor, asserts that the movie turned a profit by recouping the loss incurred from digital rentals.
In contrast to expectations, the Joker movie from last year performed disappointingly for a comic book film, grossing slightly more than $200 million and garnering harsh criticism from critics.
In an exciting turn of events, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll soon be collaborating with the talented director Aster, known for his work on Hereditary and Midsommar, on a project titled Eddington. This gripping Western film is set in the present day and boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, and Austin Butler. I can’t wait to see this extraordinary team bring this story to life!
