Anne Diamond is a well-known personality on GB News, but her former husband has decided to pursue a career in politics after being influenced by fellow GB News presenter Nigel Farage.
Mike Hollingsworth, a long-time television executive and talent agent who shares four sons with Anne, is reportedly running for Reform UK, the party led by Nigel Farage.
Next month’s local elections will see Hollingsworth running for a council position in Westminster, which is currently controlled by the Labour party.
He says the country and Westminster Council are both in really bad shape, and they’re wasting a lot of money. He believes a new approach is urgently needed.
Eighty-year-old David Hollingsworth, who was married to Anne, 71, for a decade after meeting at TV-am, speaks highly of Nigel Farage. He says he’s known Farage for many years and respects him, describing him as a divisive but necessary figure in politics – ‘a bit like Marmite,’ he explains – and believes Farage often voices what many people are thinking. Hollingsworth also notes that his wife, Anne, supports his views.
The couple tragically lost their youngest son, Sebastian, to SIDS as an infant. Their other four sons – Oliver, James, Jake, and Connor – have complicated feelings about their father’s decision to enter politics.
He says the topic is strictly avoided during family dinners. It’s a sensitive issue that often leads to arguments. His sons are divided – some support his current path, while others wish he’d pursue a different hobby or activity in retirement.
Hollingsworth then married Kimberley Stewart-Mole, who was 33 years younger than him, but the marriage ended after only 12 weeks, costing him £100,500.
He also lost his home in Oxfordshire and his dog, Dashwood. Reflecting on it, he admitted, ‘Like I told the judge during my divorce, an older person can really make a mistake… I’m easily charmed by attractive women – and honestly, who isn’t?’
‘Minister of sound’ retires
I was surprised to hear that James Palumbo, the owner of Ministry of Sound and a Lib Dem peer, is leaving the House of Lords. It seems he spent twelve years there but didn’t actually contribute much – I read he only made eight speeches during his entire time! It’s a bit strange, really.
Lord Palumbo of Southwark and his father, property developer Peter Palumbo (also a member of the House of Lords), had a significant disagreement. Some speculated that James Palumbo, educated at Eton College, sought a peerage primarily to achieve the same status as his father.
James earned his title after befriending Nick Clegg, the Liberal Democrat leader at the time, who occasionally held political gatherings at James’s Ministry of Sound nightclub in South London. Now 62, James has retired from politics, but he probably feels his efforts were worthwhile given that he still holds his title.
My legacy shall pass from memory, McKellen insists
Sir Ian McKellen, who will be 87 next month, doesn’t believe people will remember him long after he’s gone.
When asked what he wants to be remembered for, the Lord of the Rings actor expressed sadness that younger actors are unfamiliar with the legendary performers who inspired him – names like Laurence Olivier, Noel Coward, John Gielgud, and Peggy Ashcroft. He feels these influential stage actors from his youth are now largely forgotten.
Sir Ian, reprising his role as Gandalf in the 2027 film The Hunt For Gollum, shared his thoughts on life and legacy. He stated simply, ‘That’s perfectly alright with me.’ He then added, with a touch of humor, ‘I don’t have any children – which, for most people, is how they’re remembered. And since I don’t believe in an afterlife, it’s best to make the most of life while we can.’
Elvis Costello, a hugely popular musician, is currently without a record label. The 71-year-old, two-time Grammy winner, says he’s actually finding a silver lining in the situation. ‘Not having a record contract right now might be a good thing,’ he explains. ‘It gives me more creative freedom without the pressure of deadlines or expectations.’
Maisie’s Stark profits
Turning 29 yesterday, Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams could certainly afford a lavish party.
Maisie Williams, who became famous playing Arya Stark on the popular fantasy show when she was just 14, has earned around £4.2 million. Recent financial reports for her company, Wobbly Carrot Entertainment Ltd, reveal she paid herself £210,000 in dividends, which is considerably less than the £1.36 million she received the previous year.
Comedian Jack Whitehall is marrying model Roxy Horner this weekend, but his mother, actress Hilary Whitehall, is frustrated with the wedding planning. She says Jack gave her incorrect information about what to wear, and then the wedding invitation had a different dress code altogether. He simply apologized, calling her ‘Mumsy’.
Caroline hops with joy after ‘Froggy’ pops the question
Caroline Dalmeny’s first marriage was to Harry Dalmeny, the chairman of Sotheby’s and, since 2024, the 8th Earl of Rosebery. They had five children together, including triplets – a large family that would challenge most parents. However, Caroline seemed to handle it all with ease.
After twelve years since her split from Harry, she’s happily engaged to Jules Irens, a 58-year-old former Gurkha officer, affectionately known as ‘Froggy’.
Known as ‘Froggy’ because of his French-speaking mother, he got engaged in Paris this week.
Caroline, a lively 57-year-old, says it’s been a great joy and privilege in her life to remain friendly with Harry and his wife, Harriet Clapham. However, she’s upset with people in London who informed her in 2022 that her partner, known as ‘The Frog,’ wasn’t allowed to attend a party because it was exclusively for married couples.
Caroline publicly cut ties with her former friends, calling them ‘vipers’ and stating she no longer considers them friends at all.
