“They’re all out to get him”: You should be excited for Austin Butler and Matt Smith’s new crime thriller
In the initial glimpses, Austin Butler is seen evading capture for a suspenseful movie titled “Caught Stealing“, directed by Darren Aronofsky.
In this production, Butler will be working alongside an illustrious group of actors: Matt Smith, Zoë Kravitz, Regina King, Liev Schreiber, Vincent D’Onofrio, and the renowned rapper known as Bad Bunny or Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio.
1990s New York’s criminal world serves as the backdrop for this movie, which is based on the book of the same title written by Charlie Huston. Not only did Huston write the novel, but he also wrote the screenplay.
What to Read Next
In the story, Butler’s character, Henry ‘Hank’ Thompson, a previous baseball player, unwillingly becomes entangled in illicit activities, forcing him to stay concealed since nearly every New York City gangster is hunting for him.
Essentially, Austin is pitted against a variety of criminals, as Aronofsky explained in an interview with Vanity Fair.
“The Russians, the Hebrews, the Puerto Ricans — they’re all out to get him.”
The recently unveiled photos depict Hank alongside his girlfriend, Yvonne (Kravitz), a skilled EMT whom Butler praises as “excellent for him.
“She’s an EMT, and she’s a caring woman and she’s cool and she’s strong,” he said.
In other photos, Butler can be seen seated opposite Regina King’s character, Roman, with Regina’s onscreen escorts being the characters Lipa and Shmully, portrayed by Schreiber and D’Onofrio respectively.
Or, more casually:
In different shots, Butler is found sitting across from Roman (Regina King’s character) and is accompanied by the Jewish criminals Lipa and Shmully, who are played by Schreiber and D’Onofrio.
In my gaming world, I’m joined by an impressive crew including Will Brill, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Action Bronson, George Abud, Carol Kane, and Griffin Dunne. Quite a lineup, wouldn’t you say?
As a gamer, I just learned that “Caught Stealing” is the 10th masterpiece from the brilliant mind of director Darren Aronofsky. You might remember him for his recent work on “The Whale,” where he skillfully guided Brendan Fraser, Sadie Sink, and Hong Chau through their captivating performances.
Previously, he had been the director of films such as “Requiem for a Dream”, “mother!” and “Black Swan”. For these movies, he was nominated for the Best Director award at the Oscars.
Caught Stealing will release in cinemas on 29 August.
