Sir David Attenborough Reveals Surprising Food He Gave Up to Possibly Live Past 100

According to Sir David Attenborough, a single diet adjustment he made approximately ten years back is what he attributes to his continued vitality and longevity.

98-year-old broadcasting legend openly acknowledged that he is approaching the final stage of his life in a poignant statement prior to the release of his upcoming film, “Ocean: With David Attenborough.

Despite this, Sir David made it clear that he hopes to celebrate his 100th birthday, which is only about a week away from his 99th birthday on May 9.

In a 2017 interview, this wildlife expert shared that by making a minor adjustment to his diet, he believed it could contribute to him living well into his 100s.

‘I have certainly changed my diet,’ he said.

‘Not in a great sort of dramatic way – but I don’t think I’ve eaten red meat for months.

Without a doubt, I consume cheese and fish, but what stands out is that my diet has significantly leaned towards vegetarianism in the recent past compared to what I initially anticipated.

An increasing amount of individuals have chosen to abstain from consuming various types of red meats such as beef, lamb, mutton, pork, and veal over concerns about its impact on their wellbeing during the past few years.

Certain studies indicate that regularly consuming red meat may raise an individual’s risk for developing conditions like cancer, heart ailments, and Type-II diabetes.

Similarly, ultra-processed foods have a clearly identified link to a higher risk of cancer.

His remarks have re-emerged following the wildlife expert’s heartfelt confession that he is ‘approaching the final stages of his life.’

As a young lad, when he first laid eyes on the sea, it was perceived as an immense, untamed wilderness, meant to be conquered and controlled for the advantage of mankind.

As I find myself nearing the closing chapters of my life, it has become increasingly clear to me that the conventional wisdom is actually misguided. With close to a century under my belt spent traversing this world, I’ve come to realize that the most vital locale on Earth isn’t confined to land; rather, its true essence lies in the vast and mysterious expanse of the oceans.

Today, my condition is so weak that losing hope seems inevitable, except for this extraordinary finding that has come to light.

‘By preserving the seas, we are safeguarding our entire world. Over my career spent documenting Earth, I am convinced that this mission holds no greater significance.’

The upcoming movie, set to premiere on Discovery+ on the wildlife expert’s 99th birthday, promises to take him deeper than ever before in his exploration of marine conservation issues.

The study will delve into uplifting tales about marine restoration in regions where harmful fishing practices are prohibited – for instance, the Isle of Arran, Scotland and Hawaii.

Sir David contends that ‘the ocean can recover faster than we can ever imagine’.

‘My lifetime has coincided with the great age of ocean discovery,’ he added.

For more than a century, researchers and adventurers have uncovered extraordinary new species, breathtaking migration patterns, and intricate ecosystems that surpassed any imagination I held during my youth.

In this movie, we’ll delve into some amazing findings, explore why our oceans are struggling, and crucially, demonstrate ways to revitalize them. This might just be the catalyst for transformation.

Almost all nations around the globe have concurred, in writing, to strive for this basic goal and safeguard approximately one-third of our oceans.

‘Together, we now face the challenge of making it happen.’

Sir David Attenborough, who has graced our screens for over seven decades, is now widely recognized as a legendary and highly valued broadcaster.

Over the past few years, some of his highly acclaimed documentaries encompass BBC’s Planet Earth and Blue Planet, along with Our Planet on Netflix.
