Assassin’s Creed Shadows Year 1 roadmap: “Claws of Awaji” Expansion, New Game+, and more!
Assassin’s Creed Shadows unveiled its Year 1 plan, featuring the game’s initial expansion titled Claws of Awaji, as well as a New Game+ option!
In just over a month and a half since its release, Ubisoft has already unveiled their plans for Assassin’s Creed Shadows beyond the launch. They did this through a video, presenting the AC Shadows Year 1 Post-Launch Roadmap. This roadmap promises more Assassin’s Creed content with story additions, new game modes, updates to gameplay, and even an expansion. You can find all the details here.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Year 1 Roadmap
For the Year 1 plan, you can anticipate that all the content outlined will be available on your consoles and gaming devices no later than March 2026.
AC Shadows expansion: Claws of Awaji
The upcoming first expansion for the game, titled Claws of Awaji, is set to release later in the year. Excitingly, this expansion will be provided free of charge to all players who had previously pre-ordered the game. However, as of now, we don’t have any information regarding the pricing for those who didn’t pre-order, but rest assured we’ll share updates when available.
In essence, the expansion titled Claws of Awaji introduces a new playable area – the island of Awaji. Herein, adventurers will delve into its eerie woodlands, continuing the tales of Naoe and Yasuke beyond their original epilogues.
Furthermore, this growth not only enhances the gaming experience but also introduces novel elements into it. The game Claws of Awaji will offer unique skills, fresh opponents, and a special weapon for Naoe – the Bo Staff.
More stuff on the AC Shadows Roadmap!
The plan for AC Shadows’ initial year is packed with an abundance of complimentary content, predominantly narrative releases. These will introduce fresh capabilities, companions, and engaging elements across the map, all while offering a deeper insight into the backstories of certain characters.
May 2025 – First story drop, new parkour mechanics
The initial release of this story is titled “The Works of Luis Frois” and is scheduled for early May 2025. Luis Frois was a Portuguese Catholic priest and missionary who primarily worked in Japan. Regular updates will also be included with this release, such as the Codex Update and various enhancements to improve user experience.
In May 2025, you can expect an exciting parkour update with fresh launches and jumps that players have been asking for. Plus, there will be increased options for the Photo Mode, including new filters, stickers, poses, facial expressions, and even background music. This update also includes the game’s first special collaboration, although the developers haven’t shared any further details about it yet.
June 2025 – Second story drop, difficulty settings, more allies and quests!
In June 2025, we’ll launch the second version of our Community Feedback updates. The first iteration was released on April 8, 2025 and brought enhancements based on community feedback. This update introduced several new features like the horse auto-follow function, speed optimizations, the ability to reset mastery nodes, and multi-item selection at merchants and the forge.
The second Community Feedback update is scheduled for June. With this update, players will have the option to adjust their headgear during dialogues and cutscenes. To enhance player immersion, users can now customize specific visual effects. Some examples of these include weapon glints during combat, ability filters, celebratory effects after an assassination, and the ability to turn off stealth outlines.
The key ideas in the original text remain the same: the update is coming in June, it allows players to toggle headgear during dialogues/cutscenes, and it offers more visual customization options for increased immersion. However, the new version may sound more natural and easier to read to some audiences.
In this new version, the entire open world becomes a bit tougher due to the activation of the global Alarm System. To crank up the intensity even further, a higher difficulty level has been scheduled for June, making both combat and stealth scenarios more demanding.
In summary, what’s significant this month is a fresh, complimentary quest and a novel League companion. However, Ubisoft has yet to reveal further details about them; they’ve only confirmed that they will be introduced.
Looking forward: New Game Plus!
Developers have promised the gaming community that additional free content is on its way for the game within the next few months. This includes new Story Releases, partnerships, and improvements based on player feedback.
If you’re still craving more from Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, be excited! A more comprehensive New Game+ mode is on its way, which will lead to an increased maximum player level.
Things are looking up for AC Shadows players with Claws of Awaji and the plethora of free content!
