Jamie Lee Curtis Almost Skipped Freaky Friday—You’ll Never Guess Why!
Initially, this film was almost shaping up to feature Annette Bening and Michelle Trachtenberg instead of Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan. However, Bening eventually withdrew from the project, prompting the producers to reach out to Curtis – who hesitated at first.
Curtis had a 15-year-old and a 5-year-old living with her at home, and she wasn’t prepared to abandon them in order to play the role of a fictional 15-year-old mother. She would only agree to join the movie if it was going to be filmed close to her home. In an interview for Freaky Friday’s sequel, Freakier Friday, she stated, “If the filming took place outside California, I wouldn’t have been in the movie.
She continued by stating, “Had the film been shot in Vancouver, I wouldn’t have taken on the role due to my children, which resonated with the film’s themes since it mirrors the life of my character Tess.” In simpler words, she explained, “Managing parenthood is a crucial aspect in our lives and it is equally important in this movie, as it reflects the plot of the story itself.
After many years since their initial escapade, Anna now has a daughter named Harper (Julia Butters), and she’s planning to marry a man with a child, Lily (Sophia Hammons). This time around, it won’t be mother and daughter who swap bodies; instead, Tess and Anna will trade places with Harper and Lily, two young women who seem to be struggling with the challenges of adolescence.
Curtis had long anticipated and eagerly desired a follow-up for the movie, and now that her children have grown up, filming it was less of an issue. When promoting Halloween Ends in different countries, the most frequent question she received was “When will you make another Freaky Friday?” She recalled this persistent query often, and finally, it is set to appear on screens.
Lindsay Lohan Is A Mom Now Too
Due to her recent experience as a new mother in real life, she shared with Entertainment Weekly that playing a mom onscreen for the first time holds a unique significance for her. She now identifies with the deep connection and unbreakable bond between parent and child, recognizing its indispensable nature and the immense importance of making the right decisions for one’s offspring, regardless of any obstacles that may arise.
Through her own experience of motherhood, she has gained an entirely new level of understanding and admiration for the bond between her character and her onscreen mom. She admitted, “I didn’t possess the tranquility that a mother requires when dealing with a child in distress.” Now, she relishes the opportunity to portray those moments, as Tess once shared with Anna.
