Olivia Munn Proudly Stops Mastectomy Scar Treatment After SKIMS Campaign Success

Olivia Munn shared insights on why she chose to stop undergoing treatments for her post-mastectomy scars after her fight against breast cancer.

44-year-old actress from The Predator, who has recently garnered support due to her ‘sympathetic’ account of a toddler tantrum, discussed this experience during an interview with Access Hollywood at the 2025 Women’s Cancer Research Fund’s Gala on Monday.

A year ago, in March, the star announced that she was diagnosed with Luminal B breast cancer in April 2023. As part of her treatment, she had five operations, which included a double mastectomy and hysterectomy.

Now, Munn acknowledges that the SKIMS campaign she was part of last October makes her feel ‘proud’ of her scars.

After receiving such a wonderful, caring reaction from the SKIMS campaign, this mother of two shared with the media that she has ceased laser treatments for her scars.

I had every appointment set for the coming year, and I was keeping to that schedule. However, I’ve recently decided to cancel all those appointments.

Olivia conveyed that after her struggle, she found it significant to openly acknowledge and accept it. She also emphasized its potential benefits for other women who may be going through similar experiences, as well as those close to them.

I used to feel self-conscious about these scars, but now I take pride in them. I no longer feel the need to hide them as much, because people have been so kind and supportive about them.

During the interview with the publication, Munn openly praised her partner John Mulaney for his unwavering support throughout her health journey.

She mentioned that the actor not only motivates her but also shared that his greatest gestures towards her are showing unwavering love, being a wonderful friend, and an exceptional parent to their children. In essence, she expressed that she desires no more from him than what he already is.

In October 2024, the actress starred in the SKIMS campaign during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

In several photos, she was captured without a top, revealing a scar on her left breast and wearing a pair of high-waisted black leggings.

Additionally, she shared insights into her cancer journey in a video for the campaign, expressing, ‘A particular saying resonated with me deeply when I heard it.’

‘When it comes to breast cancer, welcome to the worst club with the best members.’

‘I am Olivia Munn, a victor over breast cancer. Seeing my scars, noticing the changes in my breasts, or feeling the difference in how clothes fit me, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. My altered physical appearance serves as a testament to the strength and resilience with which I have battled.’

Later on, she shared pictures taken during the recent SKIMS bra campaign and captioned them, ‘KINTSUGI – Embrace the Mends’. In the midst of this latest photo shoot, she made a decision to no longer feel self-conscious about her mastectomy scars.

‘Each scar that adorns my body serves as a testament to the battles I’ve waged. I wish for other women who may be self-conscious about their scars to view these images, and feel the warmth of love emanating from me.’

I expressed, ‘Being involved with an endeavor focused on research and aiding those affected by breast cancer carries a profound significance for me…’

During a conversation on Today, Munn clarified that when the campaign started, it wasn’t primarily focused on her scars.

When Skims asked me to be a part of their campaign, it was solely focused on promoting their shapewear and the latest leggings, with no connection to my scar whatsoever.

However, during the photoshoot for the label established by Kim Kardashian, Olivia discovered it challenging to conceal her scar while donning one of the outfits she was showcasing.

She was right in the midst of filming when she switched to an outfit that offered a better view of her scars, as she clarified.

In the process, the makeup artist found it challenging to conceal the scars resulting from my double mastectomy.

After gazing into the mirror, I found myself reflecting, “I’ve had enough of feeling self-conscious about these scars.” Then, I approached the Skims team and asked, “What are your thoughts on featuring my scars in our upcoming campaign?

Munnu shared, ‘They were truly remarkable, considerate, and delightful. After discussing our thoughts, we made a decision to move forward with the plan.’

In February a short while ago, Olivia shared insights about her health progress during the TIME Women of the Year Awards event when she spoke with People.

She clarified, ‘I’m trying various medicines, and I believe that anyone who’s experienced any type of cancer, particularly breast cancer, appreciates the importance of finding the right medication tailored to your specific needs.’

The star also revealed to the outlet that she still goes through both ‘good days and bad days.’

I’ve been adopting a slower pace, aligning myself with this new chapter of my life that I call ‘my new normal’. It’s a deliberate shift from how I used to rush through things before.

Initially, my desire was to make the most of each day by accomplishing tasks and crossing them off a checklist.

She commented, “Nowadays, my task lists are much more manageable. I find joy in keeping things organized, yet my home remains cluttered – I can’t quite tell if it’s due to the cancer treatment or having two kids.

I’ve become more lenient towards myself regarding such matters. Now, I no longer fret over a messy house…

Munns words suggest that he wakes up with manageable targets in mind, rather than setting lofty ones that may leave him feeling unaccomplished. He refers to these as attainable goals, and by achieving them, however small they may be, he feels successful each day.

In simple terms, the actress and her spouse, John, have a three-year-old son named Malcolm, and they welcomed their daughter, Méi, into their family last September (2024), through the help of a surrogate mother.

In the midst of taking care of her health and rearing her two young children, Olivia has found time to be involved with her recent television show, “Your Friends & Neighbors.

Earlier this month, on April 11, a darkly comic drama made its debut on Apple TV+, featuring actors such as Jon Hamm, Amanda Peet, and Mark Tallman in leading roles.

‘After losing his job as a hedge fund manager, this individual turns to burglary to preserve his family’s way of life by targeting affluent neighbors. Unfortunately, he commits a critical mistake when breaking into an unintended home.’
