Olivia Colman’s James Bond Joke in Warburtons Ad Goes Viral
In a fun and lively display, Olivia Colman showcased her playful character during her appearance in the latest Warburtons commercial, revealing glimpses of her backstage antics.
51-year-old Actress from Peep Show joins forces with the well-known family of bakers, following in the footsteps of esteemed actors like Robert De Niro and Samuel L. Jackson. Her visit to their establishment was nothing short of impressive.
In a fresh, two-minute commercial, we find Olivia playing the role of a unique investigator, touring the Warburtons bakery to decide if their crumpets deserve the title of “National Gem.
In my professional experience, it’s no secret that they absolutely fit the bill, and during a recent interview on set, the actress echoed this sentiment by wholeheartedly agreeing.
She greets you with excitement, “Welcome to our newest hit commercial from Warburtons! They’re renowned for crafting the finest crumpets across Britain.

In this backstage video, you can see the directors and producers chuckling during breaks while watching Olivia give an exceptional performance. This clip features Olivia, who is acting alongside Jonathan Warburton, the head of Warburton’s board of directors.
In the advertisement, he is called either J-Dubs or Baker Bo – playful nicknames they use when not on camera and share a laugh over.
Olivia asks: ‘What if now everyone in your company starts calling you Baker Boy?’
‘Well, J-Dubs stuck from the last advert,’ Jonothan replies.
‘But that’s quite cool,’ says Olivia.
In the advertisement, Olivia delivers such a compelling portrayal that people start joking she might be chosen as the next James Bond, just like an actress from The Crown.
‘Now Daniel Craig has retired, you never know,’ Jonothan quips.
To which Olivia says: ‘You be Bond, I’ll be M. Sold!’

In the ad, Olivia discusses various types of crumpet spreads, from traditional ones like butter, jam, and cheese to some unusual options such as avocado and mustard.
Ultimately, however, the 51-year-old ignited a discussion when she disclosed that she enjoys having yogurt and strawberries on her crumpets for her morning meal.
In the end, the 51-year-old caused quite a stir by sharing that she prefers to eat yogurt and strawberries on top of her crumpets at breakfast.)
The advertisement arises as 71% of British crumpet consumers believe that the simple crumpet is an essential part of British tradition, and 41% argue that it deserves the title of National Treasure and must be safeguarded relentlessly.
As a devoted enthusiast, I discovered that butter is the clear favorite among us when it comes to choosing the perfect crumpet topping, accounting for an impressive 75%. Jam follows closely behind with 30%, but only one out of every four people (23%) have ventured into the realm of cheese toppings. An even smaller fraction, a mere 4%, have experimented with avocado as a topping.
Although many find Colman’s disdain for mustard-coated crumpets in the advertisement understandable, it’s worth noting that a surprising 8% of those surveyed believe that mustard complements the traditional British dish quite well.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Olivia Colman will take on a leading role in the Netflix miniseries adaptation of Pride & Prejudice, consisting of six episodes.

In a new adaptation, Emma Corrin from “The Crown” will play Elizabeth Bennet, while Jack Lowden, known for “Slow Horses,” will depict Mr. Darcy. Additionally, Olivia will portray Mrs. Bennet in this production.
As a fervent admirer, I can hardly contain my excitement! I’ve learned that the script for this upcoming adaptation is being crafted none other than by the brilliant Dolly Alderton. Not only that, but the esteemed Euros Lyn will be at the helm as director, and get this – he’ll also take on an executive producer role alongside Emma! This collaboration promises to deliver a masterpiece that I simply can’t wait to witness unfold.
Filming for the series will begin later this year in the UK.
Besides Benedict Cumberbatch, another British actor, Olivia, is set to share screen time in the upcoming reimagining of the timeless Hollywood film “War of the Roses,” slated for release in September this year.
