LoL patch notes 25.09: Gwen nerfs, Annie buffs, and Spirit Blossom skins
Here’s what players can expect when LoL patch notes 25.09 goes live on April 30.
The latest updates for League of Legends (LoL), version 25.09, have been made public. With this release, we’re officially kicking off Season 2, offering a host of fresh skins and substantial game modifications. As anticipated, there are further toning-downs (nerfs) to Gwen, a trend that has persisted across multiple patches.
In the meantime, Annie is being given boosts to make her competitive again, while Yorick is expected to get more adjustments, which are reductions in his abilities, due to the tweaks made in previous updates. Essentially, this update brings numerous modifications aimed at balancing the game.
LoL patch notes 25.09
Concerning the changes, Gwen, Kalista, Naafiri, and Yorick have been weakened. On the other hand, Annie, Ashe, K’Sante, Leona, Morgana, Orianna, and Shen have been made stronger. Furthermore, certain items had a few tweaks.
Annie, Leona, and Morgana buffs
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but notice Annie’s seemingly uncontested reign this season. For quite some time now, she’s been the undisputed champion with minimal tweaks. To many of us, it seems like she’s not even on the radar for mid lane picks. However, Riot Games seems to be intent on reintroducing Annie to the game. They’ve beefed up her abilities by decreasing their cooldown times, and have increased Tibbers’ Passive Magic Penetration. This could potentially shake up the meta, making Annie a formidable choice once again!
As a gamer, I’ve noticed that when it comes to tank supports, Leona seems to be less favored by Riot Games compared to other picks. To balance things out, they’re planning some minor tweaks to her mana management and passive abilities against minions or champions. On the bright side, Morgana’s support role has been given a slight boost, so you might see more of her in ranked matches.
Gwen nerfs (again) and Kalista
In relation to Gwen, who has been repeatedly toned down due to her overpowering control from the jungle, she will undergo further nerfs as stated in the League of Legends patch notes 25.09. Despite being one of the strongest champions currently available, a balance adjustment is necessary. This will be achieved by lowering her armor growth and modifying her passive AP.
In the bottom lane, Kalista struggled slightly because she’s quite formidable in professional League of Legends games, making her an early-game powerhouse.
Or:
In the bot lane, Kalista experienced some difficulties due to her dominance in competitive League of Legends, which gives her a significant advantage during the early stages of the game.
Items adjustments
In patch 25.09 of League of Legends, developers weakened the Rod of Ages item because it was overpowered. They also lowered the cost for all tier three boot enhancements, which should prompt players to improve their boots earlier in the game rather than later. Furthermore, they reduced the power of Forever Forward, Spellslinger’s Shoes, and Swiftmarch items as well.

New skins in LoL patch notes 25.09
This season introduces the Spirit Blossom festival, known for its skins inspired by the Ionian celebration – one of the game’s favorite skin collections. At present, the Spirit Blossom Ashe skin does not have a voiceover, but Riot Games has promised to add it later on. Additionally, the game will greet you with a fresh in-game look that mirrors the Spirit Blossom spirit.
Furthermore, modifications have been made during this season to tackle problems such as deliberate feeding, harassment, and spoiling the game in League of Legends. This is an ongoing initiative by our team aimed at enhancing the gaming experience for all players across the board. Unfortunately, the new game mode, Brawl, will not be released with this current update. Instead, you’ll get to play it when the new update arrives on May 14th, so please be patient and enjoy the rest of your games in the meantime!
