Across different parts of the franchise, the Gundam Universe has refreshed traditional mobile suits, offering updated versions that boast increased flexibility. The upcoming installments in the series aim to rekindle fans’ enthusiasm with innovative and enhanced designs for their favorite mobile suit mecha.
The innovative “Universal Reaction Frame” for the Gundam Universe collection is set to deliver fans exceptional collector’s items. These toys will stand out with their superior articulation and flexibility, marking a high point for the series. Three of these figures are from different Gundam anime series, enhancing the engineering of mobile suits across generations. Expected to hit stores later this year, these collectibles promise to be some of the finest and most budget-friendly toys in the Gundam Universe line to date.
Gundam Universe Unleashes Increased Articulation With Universal Reaction Frame

one for Gundam Barbatos (from Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans), another for God Gundam (from Mobile Fighter G Gundam), and a third for the classic RX-78-2 Gundam. These new toys incorporate the Universal Reaction Frame, enhancing the existing high level of articulation in these toys. Unlike other collectibles in the series that require assembly, these are 150-160mm pre-assembled action figures, ready to play straight out of the box. Each figure comes with unique accessories and weapons tailored to their specific anime; for example, Barbatos has a mace, a long sword, a Smoothbore Cannon, and two interchangeable wrist parts for its arms – one for each arm.
The RX-78-2 and three other models come equipped with distinct wrist attachments on each arm, a Beam Rifle, shield, two Beam Saber effects, a Hyper Bazooka, Gundam Hammer, and a Beam Javelin. Essentially, it’s loaded with weapons to combat enemy Zakus. Meanwhile, the God Gundam and Barbatos have similar wrist attachments, interchangeable chest pieces, and dual God Slash swords. Unlike RX-78-2, these two also feature Tamashii STAGE joints, while the RX-78-2 has Soul STAGE joints for figure display. All models are made of PVC and ABS and will be available in October 2025 at a price point of approximately 4,400 yen (~$31), which is consistent with what fans have come to expect, although the frame has been upgraded for enhanced action posing.
