American Pickers’ Mike Wolfe Breaks Down Closing Beloved Nashville Store After 14 Years
14 years after its opening, the Nashville location of Antique Archaeology, owned by Mike Wolfe (star of American Pickers), will be permanently closed.
60-year-old celebrity from The History Channel, who was known for personally curating a store filled with antiques, collectibles, and home decor, officially closed its doors last Sunday.
But on Saturday Wolfe met with supporters of the shop as they came out to celebrate the store.
As he entered the shop, Wolfe seemed to be fighting back tears, noticeably wiping away some moisture from his eyes. However, upon stepping inside, he successfully mustered a bright grin.
For the television personality, closing their store represents a mix of joy and sadness. They’re heading back to their roots in LeClaire, Iowa, where the main Antique Archaeology store continues operation.
During the upcoming break from filming American Pickers, this is the first such hiatus in the last 15 years for Wolfe.

Wolfe pondered on that particular instance, as he posted about it across his personal account as well as the Instagram profile of his store, and also uploaded pictures showing customers gathering at the establishment.
He admitted he was ‘overwhelmed’ by the turnout.
Mike and his team were completely swamped and incredibly thankful for the fantastic response at the antique archaeology event in Nashville, Tennessee, as expressed in his social media post.
Everyone showed up generously to narrate tales and bid farewell to this humble store. Today marks our final day in operation; we’ll be dismantling the store tomorrow, and the majority of our goods will be relocated to @visitleclaire IOWA.
If you haven’t visited yet, swing by to catch up and pick up something. Don’t worry, this isn’t a farewell, but a ‘see you later’. I look forward to connecting with you in Iowa or online!
Wolfe will now be shifting gears to his hometown in Iowa.
In that particular locale, I call home not only my dear friends and family but also my 81-year-old mom. It’s where I nestle my cherished family business, alongside the vintage structures I envision breathing new life into.
He shared with The Tennessean, “Everything I’ve experienced is waiting for me [there]. I long to travel on roads I’ve traversed throughout my life. I yearn for surroundings that are comfortably familiar. And most importantly, I want to spend more time there with my daughter and my mother.
Earlier this month, Wolfe announced the store’s closing on Facebook with an emotional post, assuring fans that the shutdown didn’t imply he was going out of sight.
He started by saying, “Well, Nashville… it’s time for a change. After almost 15 incredible years, we’ve decided to close down our Antique Archaeology store here in Music City. This place has been more than just a shop to me; it’s been about the people, the community, and the countless visitors from around the globe who walked through those doors, shared their tales, and continually inspired me to continue this adventure I embarked on long ago.
I’ve felt an immense sense of pride belonging to this community, city, and phase of my life. Yet, there are moments when one must reflect: is my time being spent wisely here? And what direction is my heart yearning to lead me towards next?

For me, ‘family’ encompasses more than just blood relations; it’s about taking a moment to unwind, finding stability, and dedicating myself to endeavors that resonate deeply within me. I won’t be vanishing completely; you’ll still find me curating, disseminating, and trading online, as well as at our initial store in LeClaire, Iowa. However, over the years, I’ve come to understand that it’s simple to overextend oneself, and we all strive for harmony in one form or another.
Instead of saying goodbye, it’s more like a change in tune. I’ll always cherish each moment spent in the Nashville space, and I owe a debt of gratitude to everyone who turned it into something far beyond a mere store. For you all, it became a home.
Since 2010, when American Pickers made its grand premiere, I’ve been fortunate enough to find myself in the limelight, becoming a beloved figure on the History Channel, gracing their screens as one of their top-rated shows.
In this show, the main character and his deceased buddy Frank Fritz embarked on a journey across America, hunting for unique American memorabilia and valuable historical items they could either keep for their own collections or sell at their antique stores.

Eventually, Frank left the show in 2020 for a spinal operation, and later in 2022, he experienced a stroke due to issues with his brain’s blood vessels.
It turns out that Frank passed away last September, when he was 60, as he had not been able to completely overcome his health problems.
Indeed, fans rejoiced when they found out that Mike and his friend reconciled in the year 2022.
Following Frank’s passing, Mike expressed gratitude for having been there with him, as he embarked on his final voyage back home.
In simpler terms, he posted on Instagram saying, ‘I sadly announce that Frank passed away last night with great sorrow.’

He reminisced about his cherished friend: “I’ve known Frank for more than half my lifetime, and the image you see on TV is exactly what I have always witnessed – a dreamer who was as sensitive as he was humorous. Off-screen, Frank was no different; he had an extraordinary ability to touch the hearts of many simply by being himself.
In his emotional message, he also mentioned, ‘Who could have imagined that we’d be co-pilots in a white delivery van, all while captivating millions who followed our exciting journey.’
Prior to the performance, we’d embark on spontaneous journeys to undiscovered locations, guided only by our mutual curiosity and enthusiasm for uncovering intriguing and historically significant sites. We had no fixed goal; the adventure was its own reward.
Over numerous travels, we accumulated countless memories together. It was an honor to be with him during his final voyage home. My dear friend, I will deeply miss you. I believe you are now in a peaceful place.
