Gavin & Stacey Drama: Two Actors Storm Off Set During Emotional Wedding Scene!
It’s been disclosed that two actors disagreed with Smithy and Sonia’s marriage in Gavin and Stacey’s Christmas special, causing them to leave the production set mid-filming.
In the beloved TV series, the 77-year-old actor portraying Mick found himself in a difficult situation when he revealed that the climactic scene of the finale left unaware background actors bewildered and unsure about how to react to the unexpected news.
On The Chris Evans Breakfast Show, Larry shared that the two actors had reached their limits and felt it was best for one of them not to appear. In my fangirl/boy heart, I couldn’t agree more!
He informed Chris that when working on films and TV, it’s based on locations rather than adhering to the clock or calendar.
You can work in positions where the final day’s tasks are completed on the first day due to time constraints. However, they cleverly arranged for us to film the last day on the actual last day, which was quite remarkable. Nevertheless, it required going through all the motions and it became incredibly emotional by the end.
Indeed, you did read the script 10 months back, but your role isn’t aware of what’s about to happen, as that wasn’t part of the original storyline.

Larry stated: “You need to accept it and carefully observe the additional guests in the wedding scene, focusing on their expressions since they were unaware of what was happening.
They find themselves inside, witnessing a wedding, leaving them puzzled as they wonder, “What should our reaction be? Should we laugh, cry, or just observe?
Instead of them explicitly asking others to rise, two of the background actors spontaneously stood up on their own. They felt it was inappropriate, and without being told, they silently thought, “He shouldn’t.” This unwritten sentiment passed through their minds.
The final Christmas episode aired five years following the show’s previous holiday installment, which took place in 2019.
Viewers enthusiastically praised it as ‘excellent’, finding themselves emotional as they watched the finale of the beloved series that had been on air for 17 years.
In the 2019 Christmas Special, viewers anticipated if Smithy would accept Nessa’s proposal. However, a leap of five years showed they were getting married, but things were not as straightforward as they appeared.
In the previous holiday special, it became clear that Smithy had actually become engaged to his girlfriend, Sonia, who didn’t make a favorable impression on the Shipman or West family during their meeting.
Additionally, fans got an unexpected appearance by Sheridan Smith reprising her role as Rudi, Smithy’s sister, and Pam Ferris stepping back into the character of his mother, Cath.

On his special day, Smithy found himself acknowledging that Nessa was indeed his one genuine love, leading him to cancel the wedding.
Everyone piled into Dave’s vehicle and sped towards Southampton, where Nessa was getting ready to depart on her voyage. In a moment that had been building for 17 years, he expressed his affection for her and pleaded with her to rethink her decision to leave.
Despite Nessa repeatedly expressing that she wouldn’t ask Smithy for another proposal, he instead reciprocated the proposal he received five years ago. Eventually, with a knee to the ground, he asked her to marry him.
Next, we transitioned to Smithy and Nessa finally taking their vows during a heartfelt ceremony in Barry. The show concluded with a moving sequence depicting the entire family celebrating this special moment at The Dolphin pub, followed by a group photo taken to commemorate the joyous event.
After the conclusion of Gavin and Stacey, Larry’s upcoming appearance on Virgin Radio is noteworthy, given that details about his most recent acting role have just been disclosed.
In a special holiday episode airing on Christmas Day, the actor once again took on the character of Gavin’s father, Mick Shipman, in a continuation of the BBC series that had premiered 17 years ago.
In the upcoming advertising campaign for Greene King pubs, he will be taking on a unique job, appearing as a weather forecaster in a pub garden setting.
Larry is set to share “The Sipping Forecast,” a weather prediction tailored to aid individuals in handling the uncertain weather patterns during spring.

In the month of April, he plans to provide exclusive announcements to make sure the British public is well-prepared for enjoying outdoor pub areas, regardless of whether it’s sunny, windy, or raining.
In the fresh pictures for the upcoming commercial, the actor initially dons a vibrant Hawaiian shirt, later switching to a green raincoat.
