Stacey Solomon Breaks Down Sharing Heartbreaking Update on Dog Teddy’s Shocking Diagnosis
On a Monday afternoon, Stacey Solomon fought back emotions while revealing fresh information about her cherished dog’s health.
35-year-old star shared on Instagram that their dog, Teddy, became ill on Thursday due to an underlying health issue they hadn’t realized beforehand.
She made it clear that the coming days were pivotal for the dog, and while there was hope he might pull through, ‘his full recovery isn’t guaranteed.’
Now, she’s shared a fresh update in her Stories, looking quite emotional: “Hey everyone, I apologize for not keeping you posted. I was able to bring him home last week, and thankfully, he made it through the surgery and the critical post-operative period.
I don’t typically shed tears in the presence of others; it makes me uncomfortable to cry around people because I’ve shed quite a few tears already. If I were here, I would probably just break down and weep. To avoid such situations, I try to keep my distance from others so I can cry on my own. However, he is currently home, and I am extremely grateful for his presence.
She mentioned that he is currently unwell, having undergone significant surgery. Consequently, I have shifted my job duties to work remotely and postponed some commitments to aid in his recovery. I perform physiotherapy with him daily and am responsible for expressing his bladder on his behalf. He is also on medication.

It’s been a very humbling experience for me as I struggle to care for my dog, making me tear up because I feel like I’m not doing it right. My dog is currently on crate rest and we have to stick with this routine for four weeks before he has a check-up.
It’s possible that Teddy may not completely regain his health, which means he could remain this way. To provide him with the greatest opportunity for a contented life, I wish to help. He feels down when confined in his crate because he misses playing with the children.
On Good Friday, he suffered paralysis in his back legs, prompting us to rush him immediately to the vet. The vet suspected it could be meningitis, a slipped disc, or tumor. The following day, we underwent an MRI examination in Cambridge. The results indicated a ruptured disk, and they expressed concern about the overall health of his disks and spine.
As a diligent supporter, I found myself anxious, believing I might have caused harm, but upon reflection, it could have been due to a swift movement on his part, perhaps turning his head quickly or something else. Given the inherent nature of his breed, it was essentially predestined for him to develop this condition – it’s quite prevalent in Spaniels.
It’s possible that he has a 30% chance of getting better, yet it’s also likely he could remain disabled. I’m finding it difficult to accept this situation…
Last week, as I shared two heartwarming snaps of me with my beloved pup Teddy, the adorable cocker spaniel, I couldn’t help but pour out my feelings: ‘Every ounce of my being is fervently praying and hoping for his swift recovery. My ultimate goal is to provide him with the most compassionate care imaginable, in order to give him a life as fulfilling as possible.’
‘We are all truly devastated. He is the sweetest, most protective, loving dog.
‘He’s our family. And far too young to be going through this.’

The Solomon family adopted Teddy back in 2022 following the death of their previous dog Theodore.
Stacey explained that Teddy’s name was a tribute to his predecessor.
They named him Teddy as it’s a shortened form of Theodore, making it a heartfelt homage to Theo.
Stacey mentioned, “We adore you, Ted. Oh, how much! Pickle Cottage seems eerily quiet without you here. I truly miss our bathroom companion. Poor Peanut is heartbroken without his dearest friend.
Fans were quick to flood the post with supportive comments.
Oh dear, poor thing. I truly hope your pet, Teddy, gets better soon. It’s heartbreaking to see cherished animals in distress. Wishing everyone involved all the best and sending lots of love.
‘Wishing Teddy the best recovery.’;
‘Oh no hoping he [makes] a good recovery.’
Previously, it was mentioned that Stacey thinks the reason Teddy was given up for adoption by his breeder was due to him being too small to work as a regular spaniel.

At that moment, she stated: “We didn’t specifically choose him, but we expressed our intention to accept any dog that would be suitable for young kids and another one as well.
We didn’t care about the dog’s breed, color, or type of fur, as long as he found happiness and the match was perfect. And then, there came Teddy.
Last week Teddy could be seen with a bandage around one of his legs in the snaps shared by Stacey.
As an overly enthusiastic fan, I couldn’t help but notice that there were not one, but two tubes jutting from Teddy’s leg during our latest encounter. It seemed clear to me, given the circumstances, that he was still in the midst of his treatment journey.
