Boba Fett Died HOW Many Times?! You Won’t Believe It!

Every dedicated Star Wars enthusiast is familiar with Boba Fett’s fate in Return of the Jedi, but the franchise has resurrected and killed off this character numerous times over the past four decades. After the original Star Wars trilogy ended, many viewers assumed Boba was deceased; however, the Star Wars Legends Expanded Universe managed to revive him. In subsequent stories, writers found various ways to eliminate Boba temporarily rather than permanently.

In 2014, the official Star Wars storyline was rebooted, leading fans to believe that Boba Fett had met his end again. However, this assumption was proven wrong when Temuera Morrison reappeared as the character in The Mandalorian season 2. Subsequently, a spinoff series titled The Book of Boba Fett was produced. Over various Star Wars timelines, it’s been revealed that Boba Fett has “died” no less than five times within the franchise.

5. Boba Fett Fell Into The Sarlacc Pit In Return Of The Jedi

His first “death” that didn’t last very long

In the famous film “Return of the Jedi,” Boba Fett seemingly met his end by falling into the Sarlacc pit. However, it was later revealed in books and comics that his Mandalorian armor shielded him, allowing him to survive. This survival led to a life span of at least another 40 years within the “Legends” universe, where he carried on as a bounty hunter and eventually assumed leadership of the Mandalorian Protectors.

After overcoming the Pyke Syndicate, Boba Fett’s life deviated significantly from what was initially depicted. Instead of perishing in the sarlacc pit, he managed to escape and joined a band of Tusken Raiders temporarily. Tragically, they were all wiped out, leading him to reclaim his armor and ascend as Tatooine’s new crime lord. As for what happens next in canon, the fate of Boba Fett following his rise to power remains unclear, but it’s possible that future Star Wars stories may provide a conclusive end to his character.

4. Boba Fett Fell Into The Sarlacc Pit A Second Time In Legends

A cruel twist of fate for Boba Fett

In the 1977 film Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (issue #81), Boba Fett made his initial escape, coming out just a few months following Return of the Jedi. His stay in the pit resulted in memory loss, causing him to be mistaken for a robot and transported aboard a Jawa Sandcrawler. Later, Han Solo arrived on a separate mission with the intent of rescuing Boba Fett. However, their encounter occurred just before the Sandcrawler crashed into the sarlacc pit, leading Boba Fett to recall Han Solo and attempt to eliminate him once more, effectively dooming himself yet again.

Indeed, even death didn’t hold Boba Fett for long, as he managed yet another escape with the help of his jetpack. In a critical condition, Boba was discovered and rescued by his fellow bounty hunter, Dengar. The galaxy believed him to be deceased, but this misconception proved useful in his line of work. It wasn’t until six years later that Han Solo found out that Boba Fett had miraculously survived in the comic series “Star Wars: Dark Empire” by Tom Veitch and Cam Kennedy.

3. The Galaxy Thought Stormtroopers Killed Boba Fett Before A New Hope

The time Boba Fett faked his death on purpose

In the appropriately titled comic miniseries, “Star Wars: Blood Ties – Boba Fett is Dead“, it seemed that the bounty hunter had perished years prior to his fall into the sarlacc. However, when Boba Fett was assaulted by a multitude of stormtroopers and mercenaries, he deceived them by placing his armor on the body of the man he’d been pursuing. After tracking down and eliminating those who had attempted to take his life, he resumed his career as a bounty hunter.

2. Boba Fett Was Slain By Starkiller (In An Alternate Timeline)

A non-canon bonus level in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

In my latest movie review, I delve into the captivating world of “Star Wars: The Force Unleashed” expansion, the Tatooine DLC. This thrilling extension continues from where the game’s ominous dark side ending concludes, with our protagonist Starkiller on a mission to find R2-D2 and C-3PO, taking us on an alternate journey through the iconic “A New Hope”.

As our tale unfolds, we find ourselves in Jabba’s Palace, seeking information. However, the tables quickly turn when I encounter Boba Fett, a character who has seemingly met his demise in some of the earlier “Star Wars” narratives, but here, he is very much alive and ready for a fight. In this intense confrontation, Starkiller emerges victorious, dealing a fatal blow to the infamous bounty hunter.

This alternate take on the “Star Wars” universe offers an engaging and exciting twist on the classic storyline, making it a must-play for any dedicated fan of the saga.

1. Boba Suffered Multiple Tragic Fates In Star Wars’ “What If” Series

One of these fates is poetic justice

The “Star Wars Infinities” comic book series delves into alternate scenarios for every film in the original trilogy, implying that Boba Fett meets an untimely demise on multiple occasions. Specifically, in “Star Wars Infinities: The Empire Strikes Back,” Fett is apprehended at Cloud City, encased in carbonite, and re-purposed as Lando Calrissian’s desk. When Darth Vader arrives and cannot locate Fett, he orders the destruction of Cloud City, presumably resulting in Fett’s demise.

In the alternate Star Wars tale titled Infinities: Return of the Jedi, Boba Fett manages to flee from Jabba’s Palace, having Han Solo frozen in tow after Leia’s rescue mission goes awry. Subsequently, the rebels locate him and he engages in a battle as he tries to auction Han off to the Empire. In this storyline, Boba Fett meets his end during this skirmish, yet it is conceivable that future canon narratives might offer a fitting farewell for this iconic character.
