RM Sotheby’s is presenting an exclusive piece of Porsche history for sale: a custom-made 1987 Porsche 959, affectionately known as the “Speedster.” This vehicle initially belonged to race car driver Jürgen Lässig, but underwent a transformation into a Speedster by skilled Porsche craftsman Karl-Heinz Feustel following a collision on the autobahn in 1988.
In 1989, following over 4,000 painstaking hours of workmanship, the Grand Prix White 959 was unveiled at both the Frankfurt and Essen Motor Shows. This model, adorned with a blue leather interior, boasted an electrically operated convertible top and a removable hardtop in matching hues, embodying the essence of custom German engineering.
Back in 2008, I was lucky enough to join this unique Speedster to the family, and since then, we’ve been inseparable. Over the years, I’ve been accompanied by extra goodies like a tonneau cover, an additional windscreen, extra mirrors, and even owner’s guides. In March 2025, ADR Motorsport gave me a fresh tune-up, ensuring I’m running smoothly. Now, in exceptional condition, I present myself as a rare collector’s item for any enthusiast, offering a special opportunity to expand their collection.
The unique 1959 model is projected to sell for up to $1.7 million during the RM Sotheby’s Milan Auction on May 22nd, with bidding commencing at that time.
