Sam Asghari Slams Britney Spears Marriage, Debuts New GF on Red Carpet
Britney Spears‘ ex-husband Sam Asghari took a swipe at his relationship with the pop princess.
He referred to their partnership as “Hollywood,” and he described his four-month liaison with Brooke Irvine as being centered around love, as they graced the red carpet together for the inaugural weekend of The Tryst hotel.
According to Asghari, aged 31, the essence is love, which is exactly what it’s about – a sentiment shared during an interview with Us Weekly on April 25, in the beautiful city of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
In the heart of my being, I’d like to clarify that this isn’t just about the glamour industry or Tinseltown. No, it’s about something far more profound – my connection with this remarkable real estate agent based in LA.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I firmly believe that the crux of living well lies not in material possessions or fleeting pursuits, but in being fully present and engaged. It’s about savoring each moment as it comes and offering support to those who share this mindset.
Sam was with the I Did It Again singer, 43, from 2016 to 2023.

In October 2016, Sam and Britney first crossed paths while filming her “Slumber Party” music video. A few weeks later, they fueled dating speculation when the personal trainer shared (and subsequently removed) a photo of them on Instagram.
On Friday, Sam and Lauren stepped onto the red carpet for the first time together in Puerto Vallarta. Later, Sam shared the reasoning behind their debut with a media outlet.
‘It wasn’t, “Now is the time,” or whatever, but we’re here to support a great cause,’ he said.
‘Love transcends gender, race, and all other distinctions; it doesn’t recognize or comprehend such differences. This is why I stand as an ally for the LGBTQ+ community – they enlighten me to embrace this truth, making me believe and understand that love knows no boundaries. That’s what makes this community truly remarkable.’
In February, Sam said he felt ‘afraid’ during Britney’s conservatorship.
14 months following their wedding, Asghari surprised fans – including Spears herself – by initiating a divorce proceeding.
During an episode of The Viall Files, he shared details about the significant seven-year relationship he had with Spears, describing it as a substantial aspect or major chapter in his life.
Regarding the conservatorship of Britney Spears that ended in November 2021, following a 12-year period, Asghari confided in Nick Viall that he found it unusual to handle such a matter.

Back in 2008, a judge appointed a conservatorship over Spears without her consent, with her father, Jamie Spears, managing her affairs and assets throughout this period.
Asghari shared that he discovered about Britney’s unusual legal predicament at the onset of their relationship in 2016, and this information didn’t come directly from her.
* It felt quite unusual for me, but that situation caught me off guard when it first happened during our relationship, as he explained to Viall.
When Viall inquired about whether Britney had explained something to him, Asghari clarified that someone from her team informed him instead.
He asserted that she didn’t clarify the situation. Instead, someone phoned him and informed him vaguely, saying, “Just wanted to let you know, it’s about this and ensure you’re adhering to our regulations and other guidelines.”
Or:
He declared that she failed to elucidate the matter. Instead, a phone call came in with vague instructions, stating, “I thought I should inform you about this, just be mindful of our rules and other requirements.
After moving to the U.S. from Iran at the age of 12, Asghari expressed concerns that Britney appeared to be ‘restricted’ and ‘managed’.
He shared, “Growing up in my homeland, I’ve encountered similar issues before. Women were often oppressed and controlled by men throughout their lives.
I found myself thinking, ‘This seems odd, but hang on, this is America; something feels off.’

Following his conversation with a member from Britney Spears’ team, Asghari chose not to inform the singer immediately afterwards.
He shared that he had truly made an effort to grasp the situation. Specifically, he expressed his attempt to comprehend why such a conservatorship was established initially when he spoke with Viall.
It seemed like Asghari implied that, being the singer’s boyfriend, he held limited influence over the circumstances.
It seems like you don’t contribute much to the conversation, given your role as a boyfriend or simply a presence in her life.
You appear not to have a lot to share, considering your position as a partner or someone who’s just around [in her life].
He also admitted that he was ‘afraid’ of losing Britney if he tried to rock the boat.
‘I was afraid they were gonna maybe make me not see her and things like that,’ he said.
Rather than trying to play a leading role himself, Asghari made every effort to serve as a pillar of strength for Britney, advising Viall: “Be tender and offer as much support as possible.
