Sam Raimi’s Chilling New Horror Film Update Will Leave You Breathless!
Sam Raimi’s upcoming film Send Help gets a major production update.
As a thrilled fan, I’m ecstatic to announce that my eagerly awaited movie, “Send Help,” has moved into post-production! Co-producer Zainab Azizi made the exciting announcement on Instagram, revealing that filming has wrapped and shared a behind-the-scenes photo. Excitingly, this survival-horror masterpiece is set to grace our screens in theaters on January 30, 2026. This marks Sam Raimi’s return to pure horror since his 2009 release of “Drag Me to Hell.” I can hardly wait!
The movie titled “Send Help,” reminiscent of a blend between “Misery” and “Cast Away,” was masterfully directed by Raimi based on a screenplay penned by Mark Swift and Damian Shannon. The film centers around Rachel McAdams and Chris Pang, portraying an unconventional pair of survivors from a plane crash that leaves them marooned on a secluded island. Additionally, Dylan O’Brien and Dennis Haysbert make appearances in this film, with their last horror collaboration being in the 2022 movie “No Exit,”, where Havana Rose Liu, Danny Ramirez, Diana Dale Dickey, David Rysdahl, Mila Harris, and Benedict Wall also starred.
Send Help Takes Place on an Island
Two individuals, once coworkers, find themselves as the sole survivors of a plane crash on an uninhabited island. With no one else around, they must confront past disagreements and team up to stay alive. However, this journey becomes more about mental fortitude and intelligence than mere survival, as it unfolds into a test of wills and wit. This movie is being produced under the director’s personal Raimi Productions label, while 20th Century Studios takes care of distribution. The script for this film, titled “Send Help,” was penned by Mark Swift and Damian Shannon, known for their work on movies such as the 2003 clash between Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees (Freddy vs. Jason), the 2009 reboot of Friday the 13th, and the 2017 feature film Baywatch.
As an ardent admirer of Sam Raimi’s work, I can’t help but feel a bit of patience is required from us fans when it comes to his potential return to the Spider-Man universe. During an interview in April 2024, he made it clear that he wasn’t actively working on any such project at the time. He expressed uncertainty about whether Marvel and Columbia would consider him for a new Spider-Man film, given their current success with the franchise. However, he did share his admiration for the recent Spider-Man movies, including ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, where Tobey Maguire reprised his role. If a new project is in the works, I’m sure I would be among the first to know, but for now, I can only eagerly wait and appreciate what’s already been created.
Send Help is currently slated to crash into theaters on Jan. 30, 2026.
