Ubisoft has announced that they will begin playtesting the offline mode for The Crew 2, a decision made after September. This move comes as a follow-up to the unfortunate situation where The Crew was taken offline and made unplayable in March of last year.
Following their disconnection, a legal action has been initiated against Ubisoft, a case that remains active as of now. The company’s legal team is arguing that players should not anticipate having absolute ownership rights over the game.
Ubisoft reports that work on the offline version of The Crew 2 is progressing well and assures players they’ll be able to play the game even when it’s no longer online. Testing for this offline mode will start from April 30th, exclusively for selected PC users, with plans to launch it for all platforms before the end of 2025.
According to Producer Gregory Corgié, plans for an offline mode for the game “The Crew Motorfest” are underway, but it won’t be available immediately, with a future release date in mind. The focus at this time is on maintaining and enhancing the live-service for the game, ensuring its longevity for years to come.
He also mentioned that “The Crew Motorfest” will certainly have an offline option available. “The Crew 2” will be rolled out first, enabling players to play in both online and offline modes at their convenience, with the offline mode expected to be introduced before the end of 2025.
