Actor Nicholas Ralph, who plays the lead role in All Creatures Great and Small, has posted some behind-the-scenes images from the filming of season six.
I’m right in the thick of it, immersed in the world of Channel 5’s period drama as I help bring another set of episodes to life. Guess where? Good old Yorkshire! It’s a dream come true for any gamer like me, reliving the tales of James Herriot and breathing new life into them.
As a devoted fan, I couldn’t help but share my excitement when Ralph, our beloved British vet and author, shared some behind-the-scenes glimpses of the upcoming season on his Instagram Stories! He posted pictures of himself and our charming co-star, Callum Woodhouse (who brings Tristan Farnon to life), all dressed up and ready for action on the moors.
In the released set pictures, one main character noticeably absent is Rachel Shenton, Ralph’s on-screen spouse, as she has temporarily stepped away from filming for season six following the arrival of her newborn son earlier this month.
Instead of “Ralph shared,” you could say “Ralph posted” or “Ralph put up.” Ralph, in fact, uploaded a delightful picture featuring himself, Shenton, Woodhouse, and Anna Madeley, all wrapped in an embrace at a restaurant. He titled it: “The group.

I re-shared that image on my personal Instagram Story, expressing it this way: “I sure do miss you lot… can’t wait to catch up again soon.
Originating from Ben Vanstone and debuted in 2020, the series “All Creatures Great and Small” is inspired by the books of the same title by James Herriot. It narrates the story of a threesome of veterinarians practicing their craft in the Yorkshire Dales during the early 1900s.
In her role, Shenton portrays Ralph’s on-screen spouse named Helen. Previously, there were discussions about the relationship between Helen and James being deemed “monotonous,” but she addressed these opinions last year.

She described their relationship as an unusually heartwarming love tale, in which these two individuals are deeply committed to one another, always supporting and rooting for each other.
She went on to say, “It’s not common, but we witness errors occurring during the storyline. Despite these mishaps, you can sense that both parties will eventually rectify their mistakes and reconcile, correct? It’s truly delightful and invigorating to portray such scenes.
As a gamer, I recall pondering over a query similar to this: “Geez, isn’t it a tad monotonous when they keep reuniting?” But let me set the record straight, it’s anything but dull for me!
In the UK, the series titled “All Creatures Great and Small” is currently broadcasted on Channel 5. As of now, no official release date has been announced for Season 6, but Seasons 1 through 5 can be watched on My5.
The inaugural print issue of Digital Spy’s British Comedy Legends magazine is available for purchase! Grab a copy from your local newsstand or buy it online, with the price set at £7.99.
