In the second episode of “The Last of Us” season 2, there’s a hint about a WLF wolf patch, suggesting Dina may aid Ellie in finding Abby. Before Ellie endures the painful sorrow of losing Joel, Abby deceives Joel and Dina, cleverly luring them to her group where they are outnumbered, making escape impossible. As Abby seeks revenge on Joel for killing her father, Dina is given a sedative and falls asleep, allowing Abby to torment Joel.

In the subsequent sequences, Abby initially reveals herself to Joel and reminisces about a past promise she made to never harm the vulnerable. However, she breaks this promise by viciously attacking Joel with a golf club, demonstrating the deep-seated effect of her father’s demise. The merciless manner in which Abby attacks Joel prior to killing him underscores her intense thirst for vengeance over an extended period. Meanwhile, Ellie is tragically compelled to watch as Joel meets his end. This is further reinforced by a scene where Dina informs Ellie that she “recognizes their names…and their origin.” In fact, Dina seems to sketch the WLF emblem on a piece of paper to help Ellie identify Abby’s group more clearly.

The sneak peek additionally offers a peek at all the sophisticated military-level weaponry that WLF has, followed by demonstrating how Ellie prepares to grow stronger with the aim of seeking revenge against Abby. These subtle progressions almost suggest that the upcoming storyline in the HBO series will focus on Ellie’s pursuit for vengeance as she tracks down Abby. Although it is unfortunate that Joel won’t likely be a main character in future stories of The Last of Us, the potential confrontation between Ellie and Abby keeps things engaging.
