Quinton Aaron, the actor known for his role in “The Blind Side” alongside Sandra Bullock, is said to be recovering after being treated in the hospital for a blood infection last week.
Margarita Aaron, wife of the actor, shared on Monday that he is improving, showing encouraging signs like moving his body, opening his eyes, and giving a thumbs-up. While he’s able to breathe a little on his own, he still needs help with breathing and is receiving antibiotics, according to reports from Fox News and TMZ.
A representative for Aaron did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Tuesday
I’m just so impressed with how he’s handling everything. He’s a real fighter, incredibly strong, and it’s clear he’s getting a little better each day. Honestly, I really believe in the power of faith, and it sounds like he does too – he and his family truly believe God is with him through all of this.

It’s not just ‘The Blind Side.’ In Hollywood, the ‘white savior’ won’t go quietly
The ongoing discussions around films like ‘The Blind Side’ and ‘The Help’, and the making of ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, highlight how Hollywood keeps returning to a familiar and often problematic storyline.
Actor Aaron, 41, was hospitalized last week in Atlanta after collapsing at his apartment. According to TMZ, he had been experiencing neck and back pain for a few days and had lost feeling in his legs before the fall. His wife called 911, and he was briefly unconscious on the way to the hospital, where doctors ran several tests. TMZ reported Tuesday that doctors discovered a rare cyst on his spine.
Veterans Aid Network, a nonprofit, started a GoFundMe to support Aaron, who comes from a military family. They’ve known Aaron for a long time and are trying to raise $35,000 to cover his medical bills and costs related to his recovery. As of Tuesday afternoon, donations had already exceeded $40,000.
According to a GoFundMe page, Quinton has always been a source of inspiration, showing everyone the importance of kindness and empathy. Now, as he deals with a serious health challenge, let’s offer him and his family the same support he’s given to others.
I was so thrilled to see the latest update on the fundraiser – Aaron has actually opened his eyes and can feel his foot! It’s incredible news. While he’s still on life support and will need a wheelchair when he gets out of the hospital, this is such a positive step forward, and I’m sending all my support his way.
Music
As part of a BBC podcast celebrating his 75th birthday, Phil Collins is discussing his health problems. He jokingly wonders if the nurse who provides his constant care might even contribute to a recording session someday.
Actor Aaron has appeared in many films, but he’s most famous for his role in “The Blind Side.” This 2009 movie was based on the 2006 book of the same name by Michael Lewis, and it tells the true story of Michael Oher, a talented football player who went from living in poverty to achieving success with the help of Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy, the couple who took him in. The Tuohy family is widely recognized for supporting Oher’s football career. He became an All-American player at the University of Mississippi and was then drafted by the Baltimore Ravens as a top pick in 2009.
Quinton Aaron played Michael Oher, and Sandra Bullock portrayed Leigh Anne Tuohy. The movie received two Academy Award nominations, and Bullock won the award for Best Actress.
In 2023, the movie “The Blind Side” was back in the headlines when Michael Oher sued the people he believed were his adoptive parents. He claimed they never legally adopted him and instead tricked him into signing papers in 2004 that gave them control over his affairs. The couple denied these claims, calling the lawsuit an attempt to extort money from them.
In September 2023, a Tennessee judge ordered the end of the conservatorship.
