ITV’s “gripping” returning medical thriller from Line of Duty team confirms release date

The much-anticipated second season of the ITV medical suspense series, “Malpractice,” which shares its creators with “Line of Duty,” has finally set a premiere date.

The program returns this coming Sunday, May 4th, at 9 PM, on both ITV1 and ITVX. Two more episodes will air in the subsequent two days after that.

In the upcoming episodes, the narrative shifts from Dr. Lucinda Edwards (Niamh Algar) to our new leading character, Dr. James Ford (Tom Hughes).

What to Read Next

James serves as an emergency psychiatrist, always ready to respond, yet his private life appears somewhat disorganized. His colleagues perceive him as rather self-assured, yet he consistently prioritizes his patients’ wellbeing above all else.

Over the course of that fateful game night, things spiraled out of control for me, and it seems like my decisions were less than ideal.

In the Medical Investigation Unit, doctors Norma Callahan (Helen Behan) and George Adjei (Jordan Kouamé) are summoned for an investigation. It quickly becomes apparent that the events in question are far more complex than they initially appeared.

As the MIU investigation approaches its conclusion, there’s speculation about whether Dr Ford can salvage his career, which is currently precarious due to a series of apparent blunders that seem incriminating.

Is Dr. Ford more of an individual with a belief in divine powers over human affairs, disguised as a medical professional, or a person who has been unfairly targeted by the institution? Can the Mock Trial Investigation Unit discover the real events that transpired, given the hostility from all parties involved?

The first season resonated strongly with viewers, earning accolades such as “an intense, captivating series”, “compelling” and “meticulously paced”.

Malpractice season 2 begins on Sunday 4 May on ITV1 and ITVX. Season 1 can be streamed on ITVX now.
