Richard Gere’s Wife Drops Shocking News About Their Return to the US!
Richard Gere said he was ‘happier than ever’ after ditching the US for Spain late last year.
However, despite being 75 years old, the actor doesn’t intend for the move to be long-term. His wife, Alejandra Silva, who is 42, expressed that she yearns for America.
Instead of living on their spacious Connecticut estate, the pair decided to sell it and move to Spain, which is where Silva originates from. They now reside in Madrid along with their boys, Alexander who’s six, and James who’s four.
When asked if they intend to reside there permanently, Silva shared with DailyMail.com: ‘For a few years initially, then return [to the US]. However, we’ll always return. We’ll return during summer as we have the kids at camp. We need to strike a balance between our lives there and here.’
As a devoted admirer, let me share this: I’ve been spending time with my cherished loved ones, a group I deeply yearned for while away. Yet, there’s a place that holds a special allure for me – the United States. Thus, we find ourselves making frequent journeys between our home and the land I long to revisit.
At the City Harvest Gala held in New York on Tuesday evening, Silva, who is both a public relations specialist and an activist, shared her thoughts, accompanied by Gere and his son Homer.

The 25-year-old, who is the son of Carey Lowell (Gere’s second wife), expressed his eagerness for them to relocate back to the United States.
He mentioned that they plan on returning within a few years, and I really hope that happens since I’ve missed them around here.
He asserted that they didn’t leave due to political reasons and was evasive when questioned about their increased happiness at their current location.
He remarked, “The folks are familiar, but the setting is new. Yet, it doesn’t alter the essence of the world. Spain remains enchanting.
In the picturesque Amalfi Coast of Italy, Gere and Silva crossed paths for the first time back in 2014, both dealing with the aftermath of divorces; Gere, hailing from Lowell, and Silva, parting ways with her Canadian businessman husband, Govind Friedland, who is the father of her son.
In 2018, they got married at a private event held on Gere’s property in upstate New York. Until the end of last year, they resided in the United States.
In January, shortly after the move, he shared with Elle that they are more content than ever. He explained that she’s joyful being at home, which in turn makes him happy as well, since her happiness contributes to his own.
Regarding the topic of moving homes earlier, he shared with Vanity Fair that it was a consideration that was equally beneficial for his spouse.

He expressed that since she had generously granted him six years of existence within her world, it seemed just to return the favor by granting her a similar duration in his own world. This was what he shared with the publication.
Among several Hollywood celebrities, the star of The Runaway Bride has chosen to relocate from the United States to a sunny European destination instead.
In 2022, Amber Heard decided to step back from Hollywood and move to Madrid, seeking a quieter environment where she could focus on raising her daughter, away from the hustle and bustle.
The actress sold her home in Yucca Valley, California, for $1.1million.
Eva Longoria and her spouse, Jose Baston (age 56), have plans to leave Los Angeles and move to Marbella, as they’ve been spending an increasing amount of time in both locations.
She shared that she spends more time in Spain than the U.S., and her dream is to reside there permanently, as she communicated to DailyMail.com in June.
‘I’m a Spanish resident, so I can work and stay there.’
2023 saw Longoria, who wed Bastón back in 2016, acquire a grand, six-bedroom, seven-bathroom residence in Marbella. To refurbish this property, the couple brought on board architect and interior designer Nicolás Escanez for assistance.

It came as they listed their Beverly Hills property for $18.9million.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but feel a sense of privilege when reflecting on the fact that, despite it having no immediate connection with Donald Trump’s election triumph, the actress found solace in the opportunity to flee and explore new places.
She expressed to Marie Claire last November that most Americans won’t have the same fortunate circumstances. Instead, they’ll find themselves trapped within a grim and bleak nation. Her feelings of worry and sorrow are primarily directed towards them.
In addition to other famous figures, Rosie O’Donnell, America Ferrera, Ellen DeGeneres, and her spouse Portia de Rossi are among those leaving the United States. Rosie and her daughter moved to Ireland, while America is said to be considering schools in London for her kids. Meanwhile, Ellen and Portia de Rossi have traded their Montecito home for a $19 million farmhouse nestled in the English countryside.
