Lynne McGranger’s Shocking Home and Away Exit Revealed: It Will Hit Home!

Lynne McGranger has opened up about her bittersweet exit from Home and Away.

The actress, 72, is gearing up to leave the long-running soap after an impressive 33 years.

In an interview airing tonight, Lynne shared that she was given the ultimate say in how her character Irene Roberts bid a farewell for good.

Without giving away any secrets, Lynne shared that her concept is likely to resonate deeply with followers of the show.

‘I had this idea, and they loved it,’ Lynne admitted.

They’ve chosen to adopt it, and that’s the direction we’ve taken. I strongly believe it’s crucial, it’s timely, and I anticipate it will resonate deeply with many individuals.

Lynne, who wrapped up shooting for the legendary soap opera last month, shared some insights about how she envisioned Irene’s departure from Summer Bay to be executed.

After sharing her intention to depart the series with the show’s producers and actors, Lynne proposed an exciting concept for Irene’s memorable farewell scene.

Louise Bowes, along with Lucy Addario as the series producer, and Julie McGauran in her role as executive producer, invited me for lunch because I had a suggestion regarding a concluding plotline, I shared.

Initially, I was overjoyed when she unveiled her groundbreaking concept, brimming with cinematic allure. However, my heart sank as the trio swiftly dismissed it, leaving me longing for more.

Lynne stated, “I realized they wouldn’t appreciate me saying goodbye from the back of a bus. I jokingly proposed pretending to get run over by a bus near the diner, but they responded, ‘No way, that’s definitely not going to happen.’

On the spot, Lynne proposed another astonishingly impressive escape plan, but it was ultimately vetoed.

In an instant, Lynne suggested a second mind-blowing exit approach, but it ended up being disapproved.

Spontaneously, Lynne came up with a second stunning exit idea, but it was nixed.

Instead of saying, “They think I’m dead and I surprise them by appearing in my coffin during the funeral,” Lynne humorously quipped, “I’ll be a shocking guest at my own funeral!

For more than three decades, Lynne has captivated audiences as the beloved character Irene Roberts, a tenacious Aussie underdog, on the series Home and Away.

She announced her departure from the show earlier this year.

In a touching statement, the esteemed star expressed that, after nearly three decades in a cherished position surrounded by individuals who he holds dear and regards as family, it is both joyful and sorrowful to bring an end to what has been the most fulfilling and enduring job of his career.

She expressed heartfelt gratitude towards the exceptional production team who have been working wonders for Irene throughout the past nearly three decades, as well as our brilliant writers whose support and guidance continue to be readily available.

“I’m incredibly proud of the plot that will have Irene leave the Bay. Most importantly, a huge, sincere thank you to the fans for your unwavering affection and encouragement.

The well-liked daytime drama actor shared with her coworkers on the “Home and Away” set that she had sadly revealed some devastating news about herself not too long ago.

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, she expressed that it was deeply meaningful to her that her friendship with Irene had played a significant role in the lives of those residing in and connected to Summer Bay, not only on-screen but also off-camera as well.

In another part of our conversation, it was mentioned by Lynne (previously known as Irene) that she will be shooting her final scenes playing this character in March.

Instead, she shared with the press that she won’t reveal the details about her character’s departure from Summer Bay, but merely hinted that it would be an exciting tale.

Speaking about her decision to depart the show, Lynne expressed: “For quite some time now, I’ve been contemplating it. I realized that I’m still in good health and fitness, and I yearn for new experiences. So, I plan to delve back into theatre, try my hand at radio broadcasting, and even dabble in stand-up comedy.

‘You either leave voluntarily or leave in a box by the time you’re my age,’ she joked.

‘I’m not going to live forever, particularly if I keep doing 14-hour days.

If you find yourself feeling fatigued, it means your body needs rest. A poor night’s sleep can leave you paying for it the following day. Unlike before, my body doesn’t bounce back quite as easily as it used to.

As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but boast about my favorite star, Lynne. You see, during her stint in the limelight, she had the privilege of collaborating with none other than the radiant Margot Robbie and the mighty Chris Hemsworth – future titans of Hollywood! What an incredible experience that must have been!

Furthermore, Lynne collaborated on screen with several renowned figures from the series who began their acting careers at a young age, such as Samara Weaving, Tammin Sursok, Ryan Kwanten, and Isla Fisher.
