Mean Little Girl
Abbie Chatfield has labelled conservative political commentator Freya Leach a ‘mean little girl’.
Last week, I had the privilege of participating alongside a fellow policy expert, aged 21, in a lively influencer election debate on The Feed SBS. As the host of It’s A Lot podcast, it was an exciting opportunity to share insights and engage in thought-provoking discussions about the political landscape.
In an upcoming episode (not yet available on YouTube), a news and discussion show featured debates with six notable young political analysts who are considered to have significant impact in Australia, discussing the major topics of the current election.
As a devoted admirer, I couldn’t help but be enthralled by the diverse panel that graced our presence. Among them was Konrad Benjamin, previously a revered high school teacher, now widely known as Punters Politics; the youthful dynamo Hannah Fergusson, founder of Cheek Media; the insightful Trisha Jha from the Centre for Independent Studies, and the talented journalist Joel Jamaal, all in their respective prime at 35, 26, 38, and 28 years old.
Freya, with a following of 14,800 on TikTok, didn’t hold back as she captured her Uber journey home after the debate.
She singled out explicitly each of the three individuals labeled as “super liberal whites” in the panel, reserving her sharpest criticism for Abbie, boasting over 635,800 followers on the platform.
‘Honest reflections,’ she captioned the short clip of herself in a blue suit.
1. “Punters only has one skill set.”
2. “I had a higher opinion of Hannah’s intelligence than I now realize.”
3. “Abbie seemed clueless about the topic at hand.”
Freya’s video has 3794 likes at the time of writing.
Abbie filmed a short and sharp clapback on Saturday that’s been liked 17,500 times.
In my perspective, I likened the global climate crisis to the excessive horse manure problem in London once upon a time. To put it candidly, just as the overabundance of horse droppings posed a significant challenge back then, so too does the climate predicament we face today require our immediate attention and concerted effort.
‘Also babe, we were so polite to you despite your abhorrent views,’ she continued.
Let me rephrase that for a more conversational tone: “We showed great respect, but your actions today were childish, reminiscent of an immature girl. I hope you’ll learn and grow from this experience.
Though Hannah and I had differences with most of what you said, didn’t we? Instead of mocking you in a petty video like that, we chose to behave as mature adults.

She mentioned that while your name didn’t generate much engagement, ours does, so you might benefit from using them instead.
I’m happy that you shared your thoughts with me dear, sending you all the warmth and positivity you deserve. We always tried to be considerate towards you, it’s hard to believe that such a young girl could be so unkind.
2023 saw Freya attempt, but fail, to represent the Liberals in the Green Party stronghold of Balmain, Sydney’s inner-west electorate.
She wed Cooper Gannon, who was the secretary of the Young Liberals in NSW, at a church in Sydney during December. In various posts on social media, she often referred to Anthony Albanese as “the worst prime minister in history.
At present, she serves as the head of youth policy for a liberal party affiliated research organization, known as the Menzies think-tank.
