It is said that Freddie Mercury’s sister allegedly paid an enormous sum of around £3 million to acquire his personal possessions, following his ex-partner who had placed these items up for sale at auction.

Among the other listed items, there was a lamp priced at approximately £22,860 crafted from a Daum Persimmons vase, a Nike sweatshirt valued at around £40,640, and an ice bucket in the shape of a cube, selling for about £19,000.

In September 2023, Sotheby’s conducted an auction where Mary had earlier sold approximately 1,400 items from Freddie for a grand total of £12,172,290.

After a month-long display titled “Freddie Mercury ‘A World of his Own'”, which showcased an unprecedented private collection of the celebrity’s personal belongings from his residence, Garden Lodge, the items were subsequently sold following the exhibition.

Though they never exchanged marriage vows in the eyes of the law, Freddie always referred to her as his “wife,” a title that echoed long after he openly acknowledged his true sexuality. This revelation unfortunately marked the end of their passionate romance.

In an unusual conversation, Mary shared that she once discussed sexual orientation with Freddie. She recalled him saying, “I believe I am bisexual.” To which she responded, “I think you’re gay.” After this exchange, they didn’t talk much more about it and instead, they hugged.
