Freddie Mercury’s Sister Spent £3M to Save His Treasures!
It is said that Freddie Mercury’s sister allegedly paid an enormous sum of around £3 million to acquire his personal possessions, following his ex-partner who had placed these items up for sale at auction.
Mary Austin, a woman, became the beloved partner of a renowned rock star, and since his passing due to complications from AIDS in 1991, she has been receiving his inherited wealth.
Consequently, when it was discovered that Mary, aged 74, was selling some of Freddie’s memorabilia, his sister, Kashmira Bulsara, 73, is said to have felt heartbroken and resolute about ensuring these items remain within the family.
As reported by The Sun, Jamal Zook and his mother chose to participate in the bidding and purchase items from the estate of the late Queen, all while maintaining anonymity to avoid tipping off Mary about their involvement.
According to a source, Kashmira expressed feelings of anger and sadness upon discovering that numerous items once belonging to her late brother were being made available for public purchase.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I often take advantage of the convenience offered by modern technology. Before attending an auction at Sotheby’s, I like to secure a private viewing to familiarize myself with the items up for sale. While I maintain a virtual presence at the event through online streaming, I provide my assistant with bidding instructions based on my assessment during the preview. This strategy allows me to make informed decisions and stay ahead in the competitive auction world.

They noted that they had allocated a substantial amount for this project, which made them quite content with the ultimate cost, even though each item turned out to be significantly more expensive than initially anticipated.
Absolutely, Kashmira acknowledges that Freddie was cherished by people worldwide. However, it brought her sadness to imagine his personal mementos not in the possession of his dear ones.
It’s reported that one of the things Kashmira purchased was a £139,700 waistcoat decorated with images of Freddie’s six cats, which he donned in the music video for “These Are The Days Of Our Lives,” approximately half a year before his passing.
According to the Sun, she shelled out £406,400 for a Wurlitzer Model 850 jukebox and a staggering £279,400 for eight pages of preliminary lyrics to the iconic 1974 Queen song “Killer Queen.
She reportedly splurged an impressive £457,200 on a military-style jacket custom-made for her brother’s 39th birthday.
Among the other listed items, there was a lamp priced at approximately £22,860 crafted from a Daum Persimmons vase, a Nike sweatshirt valued at around £40,640, and an ice bucket in the shape of a cube, selling for about £19,000.
Or, more casually:
The other items included a £22,860 lamp made from a Daum Persimmons vase, a £40,640 Nike sweatshirt, and an ice bucket shaped like a cube for £19,000.
When reached out to by TopMob, neither Kashmira’s nor Mary’s representatives chose to provide a statement.
In September 2023, Sotheby’s conducted an auction where Mary had earlier sold approximately 1,400 items from Freddie for a grand total of £12,172,290.

After a month-long display titled “Freddie Mercury ‘A World of his Own'”, which showcased an unprecedented private collection of the celebrity’s personal belongings from his residence, Garden Lodge, the items were subsequently sold following the exhibition.
For approximately three decades following his passing, his possessions at Garden Lodge remained largely undisturbed. Upon his death, he bequeathed the property and its contents to Mary. She shared with the BBC that “This is a remarkably intelligent and sophisticated collection, and it wouldn’t be immediately obvious that it belonged to Freddie.
Approximately 140,000 individuals attended the London showcase to view the collection, prior to the six auctions that attracted an unprecedented number of bids from 61 different nations.
Among my cherished possessions, there lies a 1975 Yamaha Baby Grand piano – the very instrument I used to craft timeless melodies like Bohemian Rhapsody and Don’t Stop Me Now. Remarkably, it fetched an astounding £1.7 million at auction, breaking records in the process.
Among the popular auction items was a set of handwritten song lyrics for “Bohemian Rhapsody,” fetching an impressive £1.4 million, and Freddie Mercury’s iconic rainbow-hued satin jacket that was sold for £203,200.
In the music video for “Bohemian Rhapsody” back in 1975, a silver snake bracelet was worn. This very same bracelet fetched an astounding £698,500 at Sotheby’s auction, which is approximately 100 times more than its initial estimated value.
Mary contributed part of her earnings to The Mercury Phoenix Trust, a charity established in memory of Freddie by his bandmates and manager Jim Beach, along with the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
Speaking as a lifestyle guide, I recently made a poignant choice to part ways with cherished possessions. It’s time for me to bid adieu to an extraordinary phase in my life. This decision isn’t easy, but it’s necessary for me to organize and streamline my personal matters.

I chose to be open and honest about my intentions. Since I was planning on selling, I needed to summon up courage and part with everything all at once.
Sotheby’s stated that she chose to put Freddie’s cherished Yamaha Baby Grand Piano up for sale without a minimum price, allowing a wider range of prospective buyers to place their bids.
In the year 1970, Mary crossed paths with Freddie for the first time. At that time, Freddie was a budding musician, having relocated to London from his native land, Zanzibar, about six years earlier.
In 1973, the pair shared a home and got engaged, but three years on, Freddie revealed his sexual orientation and disclosed that he was homosexual.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but reflect on the extraordinary bond between Mary and Freddie. Though they never exchanged marriage vows in the eyes of the law, Freddie always referred to her as his “wife,” a title that echoed long after he openly acknowledged his true sexuality. This revelation unfortunately marked the end of their passionate romance.
In an unusual conversation, Mary shared that she once discussed sexual orientation with Freddie. She recalled him saying, “I believe I am bisexual.” To which she responded, “I think you’re gay.” After this exchange, they didn’t talk much more about it and instead, they hugged. Throughout his life, Mary and Freddie maintained a very strong friendship.
