The long-anticipated and emotionally crushing Episode 2 of Season 2 from The Last of Us has finally aired, leaving viewers in tears as Ellie (Bella Ramsay), Dina (Isabela Merced), and Jesse (Young Mazino) returned Joel’s (Pedro Pascal) body to their settlement in Jackson, Wyoming. A particularly distressing moment occurred when Abbie (Kaitlyn Dever) used a golf club on Joel, mirroring a scene straight from the video game. However, there was one significant difference: HBO’s The Last of Us is unsparing in its portrayal of brutal violence amidst the fungal-infected zombie apocalypse. Yet, during this intense sequence, the episode’s director, Mark Mylod, recognized the need for a change.
