Ready or Not Sequel: Gellar, Wood, & Cronenberg Join the Deadly Game
As a movie enthusiast, I’ve been eagerly awaiting news about the next chapter in the “Ready or Not” saga ever since it was announced back in October. Now, with the title reveal of “Ready Or Not: Here I Come”, excitement levels are reaching new heights! Joining the cast are horror veterans like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Elijah Wood, along with Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, Kevin Durand, and none other than the legendary master of body horror, David Cronenberg. It’s going to be a thrilling ride to see Samara Weaving back as Grace, our protagonist from the original 2019 film, alongside Kathryn Newton once again. I can hardly wait!
According to Deadline, the creative minds behind the initial horror-comedy, Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, disclosed their thoughts on a matter.
We’re delighted to be back in the universe of “Ready or Not”, and we can hardly wait to collaborate with Samara, Brett, Avery, and Andrew once more. We’re also incredibly excited about working with this exceptionally skilled cast, as well as the many gifted artists from various departments who are now part of the “Ready or Not” team.
Radio Silence, a team renowned for blending comedy, adventure, and science fiction within horror genres, initially gained notice with their segment titled “10/31/1998” in the 2012 anthology film V/H/S. Since then, directors Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett have been at the helm of horror movies such as Devil’s Due, the 2022 release of Scream, its sequel Scream VI, and Abigail. The original film, Ready or Not, was a hit both critically and commercially, earning $57.6 million worldwide on a $6 million budget, and receiving praise for its humor, suspense, and Weaving’s performance. The plot revolves around Weaving’s character, Grace, whose wedding night takes a deadly turn when her in-laws compel her to play a lethal game of hide-and-seek.
Matt Greenfield, head of Searchlight Pictures, expressed his excitement about working together again with Radio Silence on the follow-up project.
We can hardly contain our enthusiasm to collaborate again with the outstanding team at Radio Silence on their upcoming film, titled Ready or Not: Here I Come. This new project promises another thrilling journey starring the talented Samara Weaving, along with some exciting new talents. Audiences can expect a fresh perspective that maintains the original’s dark and entertaining essence. For those who have been eagerly anticipating this sequel, and for those who might be surprised by its arrival, get ready for an unforgettable ride!
New Cast Additions Elevate Anticipation for ‘Ready or Not: Here I Come’
The movie “Ready or Not” is turning out to be something extraordinary with its fresh additions. Sarah Michelle Gellar made horror unforgettable in the late 1990s with her role as Buffy Summers in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” and appearances in “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “Scream.” She’s coming back to play the legendary Buffy for a new sequel series, which is close to being greenlit on Hulu. Although the upcoming spin-off series won’t revolve around Gellar’s Buffy, she will appear as a recurring character.
Ewan McGregor, famously recognized for playing Frodo Baggins in “The Lord of the Rings”, has also gained notice for his roles in horror films. In 1993, he appeared in the psychological thriller “The Good Son”. More recently, he spearheaded the remake of “Maniac” in 2013 and starred in the critically praised “Come to Daddy” in 2019. McGregor has also been involved in horror through his production company, SpectreVision, funding films such as “A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night” and “Mandy”. His latest role was in Oz Perkins’ “The Monkey”. On the other hand, David Cronenberg is a renowned horror filmmaker, particularly known for his work in body horror. Some of his notable works include “Shivers”, “Rabid”, “The Fly”, and “Videodrome”.
As a devoted cinephile, I can’t help but share my excitement about the upcoming movie “Ready or Not”! The screenplay for this thrilling film is being crafted by talented writers Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy, who originally penned the script. Right now, the magic of cinema is coming to life as filming takes place in Toronto. I can’t wait to see the final product on the big screen!
