Joe Exotic Ties Knot with Inmate in Federal Prison!
Despite serving a 21-year federal prison term, Joe Exotic has surprisingly revealed his decision to get married.
62-year-old Tiger King cast member announced his marriage to co-inmate, Jorge Flores Maldonado, on Tuesday.
Currently, he’s in prison, having been found guilty in 2019 for hiring assassins to murder his zoo-keeping competitor Carole Baskin.
Posting an edited picture showing us in matching suits for our special occasion, he jokingly commented: “I’ve never felt prouder than I am now. Allow me to introduce you to my spouse, Jorge Flores Maldonado.
In October, Joe announced his engagement and introduced his fans to Jorge Marquez, who is 33 years old and an incredible individual hailing from Mexico.
During his time at the Federal Medical Center, Fort Worth, he mentioned, “Now, our goal is to marry in prison and seek asylum for him, or we will depart from America upon our release.

‘Either way, I wish I would have met him long ago.’
Joe Exotic (the Tiger King star), formerly known as Joseph Maldonado-Passage, filed a marriage application from prison with plans to wed Marquez.
As reported by CBS News, his current spouse is currently incarcerated due to immigration-related matters.
Not only were both men confident that the prison would grant their marriage request, but they remained optimistic that Exotic’s appeal against his entire case, including the conviction for allegedly hiring hitmen to target Carole Baskin, would be successful.
He alleges to possess supporting materials, including ‘videotaped sworn confessions’ and ‘approximately 700 phone recordings of federal officials.’
In his statement then, Joe asked for a presidential pardon not only for himself but also for his partner, and additionally sought refuge (or asylum) for Marquez.
Maldonado expressed a hope that either the current president or the future one might grant him a pardon, allowing him to leave behind the difficult situation his own country has put him in over the past seven years of his life.
I constructed a zoo, but some folks couldn’t handle their jealousy. Eventually, my own nation imprisoned me.
Last year, I spilled the beans about the latest developments during my exclusive phone chat with Entertainment Tonight – and let me tell you, I’ve been on tenterhooks ever since!

Speaking here, I submitted the necessary documents for our marriage license from within the prison walls yesterday, and now we’re anxiously awaiting approval. I’ve chosen December 12th as the tentative date for us, should everything be approved on schedule.
He stated that prior to their marriage license being granted, it was necessary for their application to receive approval from the warden, mental health professionals, and the chaplain.
According to the star of Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness, they deeply cherish each other and hardly spend a moment apart throughout their day.
He remarked, “I’ve had quite a few challenges in my life. I lost two spouses, a third one absconded with 2.6 million dollars from Netflix, leaving me behind, but Jorge is an exceptionally remarkable young man.”
Previously, Exotic was married to the deceased Travis Maldonado. He took his own life accidentally by firing a gun in 2017.
Or:
Travis Maldonado, who is now deceased, was previously married to Exotic. He died after an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound in the year 2017.
18-year-old Maldonado, hailing from California, had a past struggle with drug abuse, as portrayed in the Netflix series.
In 2013, he visited Exotic’s zoo upon the suggestion of a common friend, as detailed in the series.
It was anticipated that Maldonado could overcome his addiction through handling animals, as Exotic employed him at his zoo; however, a romantic relationship developed between them shortly thereafter.
Shortly following his arrival, Exotic wed Maldonado, who was significantly younger at the age of 32, and John Finlay, in a unique three-person wedding ceremony.

Joe was also engaged to Dillon Passage, whom he hooked up with two months after Travis’ death.
In 2020, they chose to separate their lives, and a year later, they officially filed for divorce.
Joe announced in December 2022: ‘Just waiting on the final order from the judge!’
29-year-old Texas bartender Dillon, who has been in a relationship with fitness trainer John Devarti since July 2021, shared on Instagram Stories that it required four revisions before Joe (formerly known as Joseph Allen Schreibvogel) agreed to the post.
Over the past year and a half, I’ve fought hard and invested tens of thousands of dollars in an attempt to free myself from what feels like a personal prison, as Dillon put it.
However, every bit of it was absolutely worthwhile! I’m thrilled about embarking on the next chapter of my life, hand-in-hand with my fantastic partner, John @devarti_j. He’s always there for me, offering support in all aspects. The next phase: engineering school!
According to TMZ, distribution, profiting from, selling, transferring, or utilizing any representations of Maldonado are now prohibited, and a clause preventing negative comments about him has been established.
In December of 2017, Dillon and Joe got married, a mere two months following Travis’ unfortunate death from an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound at the age of 23.
As I, back in 2015, found myself in a unique bond with both Travis and John Finlay – a polyamorous relationship that brought us immense joy, we decided to celebrate our union informally, holding what we called a three-partner wedding. However, unfortunately, John and I experienced a disagreement that led to a rift between us.

He was arrested in September of 2018.
In the year 2019, Exotic was found guilty and given a 22-year jail term on 17 counts of federal cruelty to animals and two attempts to hire someone to assassinate Carole Baskin, the founder of Big Cat Rescue.
In January 2022, approximately two years following the initial appeal, a U.S appellate court decided that the two attempted murder convictions should not have been considered separately. This revision led to a one-year reduction in his sentence, ultimately resending him to serve 21 years in prison.
As a devoted admirer, I’ve faced scrutiny due to the intense debates about my disagreements with Baskin and the animal welfare concerns that have arisen from the management of the G.W. Zoo.
He has been highlighted in numerous documentaries, such as the successful Netflix show Tiger King (aired from 2020-2021), which delved into his profession as a zookeeper and his disputes with Baskin. Additionally, there are two productions by Louis Theroux: America’s Most Dangerous Pets (released in 2011) and Shooting Joe Exotic (aired in 2021).
A TV series titled “Joe vs. Carole” was broadcast on Peacock starting March 3, 2022, with the main focus being the relationship between Carole Baskin and Joe Exotic, a storyline drawn from real events.
Optimistically looking forward, Exotic anticipates his release from prison in the year 2025. He’s already brainstorming about life beyond bars, with plans to pursue a career in academia among other endeavors.
His goal is to eventually pass on his extensive knowledge about tigers in an educational context, possibly through delivering presentations or speeches.
The announcement about Joe’s wedding occurs shortly following his astonishing proposal to President Donald Trump, an attempt to obtain a pardon from the White House.

During his initial term, Trump, aged 78, mentioned to a journalist that he might examine the case of the tiger trader, yet no action was ever taken on this matter.
In an exhilarating turn of events, I found myself, the ardent supporter, granting clemency and reducing sentences for no less than 143 individuals, among whom were the legendary rappers Lil Wayne and Kodak Black.
Despite this, Exotic has openly supported Trump in the 2024 election and continues to attempt to gain the president’s notice regarding his case.
Last month’s post on Exotic’s X account features a photo of the tiger caretaker, who is now publicly addressing Marquez as his “spouse.
Exotic proposed a different scenario: “Instead of eventually sending him away, consider releasing me now. This way, both of us could head to Mexico. Not only would this avoid the expense of his deportation, but it would also provide an opportunity for you to look after me.
Rain or shine, he remains my spouse, and our connection is so profound that we will always stand by one another, come what may.
