The MongolZ return to a big event playoffs and will play in front of their “home” crowd.
If FaZe Clan wants to keep their Australian championship title at the IEM Melbourne event, they will have to battle through the lower bracket following a 2-0 loss (scores of 13-8 and 16-13) against The MongolZ in today’s group stage upper bracket match.
On the third day of IEM Melbourne groups, MongolZ will compete, and thanks to their victory today, they have guaranteed a place on the main stage at Rod Laver Arena, where they can expect a warm reception from the enthusiastic Australian audience.
Adopted Aussies MongolZ defy FaZe after nail-biting Ancient finish

Following an impressive opening in 2025, the MongolZ have experienced some rough patches recently. For the first time this season, the Mongolian team failed to qualify for a major event at PGL Bucharest. However, in Melbourne, they’ve returned to their victorious form with straight-set victories over Complexity and FaZe.
In the clash between The MongolZ and FaZe, Ayush “mzinho” Batbold stood out as a key factor in their victory, masterfully controlling the game. Meanwhile, Helvijs “broky” Saukants struggled, with Usukhbayar “910” Banzragch outperforming him significantly in the sniper role, scoring 16 points compared to broky’s 9.
At a glance: mzinho vs. FaZe
- 46-29 K/D
- 1.36 rating
- 89.5 ADR
- 4 first kills
On Dust 2, the three-member team of MongolZ, consisting of mzinho, Senzu, and bLitz, were relentless, turning a 7-5 disadvantage into a map victory by securing eight consecutive T rounds. This impressive streak included four bomb plants.
In the early stages of the game, it was too tight to call between the teams, with neither managing to gain an advantage in the first half. However, FaZe started to dominate on the attacking side, scoring four consecutive rounds to reach the map point. The MongolZ fought back to level the match and force overtime, but a perfect defensive trio from FaZe almost sealed the series for them.
In simple terms, it seems that FaZe Clan could be excluded from the playoffs of a major tournament for the third time in 2025. This is quite a change in their fortunes, as the team that won IEM Sydney in the previous year has faced difficulties following a period of exceptional performance in 2023 and 2024.
Tomorrow, FaZe will face off against 3DMAX in their initial elimination round. If they win, they advance to compete against the victor of GamerLegion versus Complexity for a spot in the quarterfinals.
