Taskmaster’s Alex Horne says “this has got a bit out of control”, as beloved show gets big news

Alex Horne, the creator of the popular show Taskmaster, has discussed the series as it prepares to launch in Poland. Deadline reports that Polish television network TVN has approved a local adaptation of the comedy show, continuing its expansion into international markets.

Avalon and Constantin are producing the Polish series, which will air on TVN, a channel owned by Warner Bros Discovery.

Alex Horne, the co-host of the UK version of the show, admitted things with the international deal have “gotten a bit out of control.”

He also expressed excitement that Polish audiences will finally get to see their best comedians abandon their usual seriousness and compete to win over the judges, much like they do on the British show hosted by Greg Davies.

Paula Warwick, Avalon’s head of distribution, expressed excitement about working with TVN and Constantin to launch the show Taskmaster in Poland.

This show’s consistently funny format and reliable humor have built a strong international fanbase, and we’re excited to launch it in Poland. With even more countries joining this year, its popularity around the world continues to grow.

This announcement follows news that the Swedish version of the show will return for two more seasons, making a total of fourteen and fifteen.

The Norwegian version of Taskmaster has been renewed, and new versions recently launched in Iceland and Estonia. With a Dutch Taskmaster coming later this year, a new deal in Poland brings the total number of countries with their own version of the show to fourteen.

The original British version of the show features five celebrities battling it out in strange and imaginative challenges to earn points. Comedian Alex Horne manages the silly tasks, and Greg Davies judges them, ultimately deciding who wins each episode.

Throughout the competition, points are added up, and at the end of the week, the winner receives a special trophy. Over the past 22 seasons, the show has featured a diverse group of celebrities, including actors, comedians, and TV hosts, and the host has hinted that a very famous star will be appearing soon.

He hinted to RadioTimes that a future season of the show will feature an Academy Award winner.

Taskmaster airs on Channel 4 and streams on the Channel 4 YouTube channel.
