Why I Still Want a Beetlejuice 3 (Thanks to Michael Keaton’s Charm)
It appears that the playful spirit’s name might have been invoked a bit too frequently, as there’s a possibility we could be getting another Beetlejuice movie sequel. As a devoted fan of the original 1988 Tim Burton film, which I consider one of the top movies from the 1980s without any exaggeration, this potential news certainly brings a smile to my face, though it’s hard to say that it’s the most thrilling piece of news I’ve ever heard.
To put it simply, I’ve never been particularly enthusiastic about the potential 2024 release of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice“. So when Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, the CEOs at Warner Bros., suggested to Deadline that a third installment might not be officially confirmed but could be imminent, I couldn’t fathom any compelling reasons for such a move… that is, until I came up with a few. Let me share with you why I’m starting to see the potential in revisiting this character once more.
I Will Always Be Down For More Of Michael Keaton As Betelgeuse
Frankly speaking, there are aspects of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice I find enjoyable, yet my complaints – like an overly complex plot and humor that often misses the mark – stood out more after a second watch. However, Michael Keaton’s performance was consistently impressive in both viewings.
My all-time favorite actor is the one who’s been nominated for an Academy Award, and it so happens that you spell his iconic character’s name as Betelgeuse. Among his impressive repertoire, including live-action Batman films and the Oscar-winning Best Picture, Birdman, my favorite role of his is none other than Betelgeuse. I would never pass up an opportunity to witness his flawless, energetic humor as the most memorable ghost in cinema history, even if it means another installment in the horror-comedy classic that holds a special place in my heart.

I Would Like To See Tim Burton And Co. Improve On Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
Simply disliking a sequel doesn’t guarantee I’ll despise the next installment. In fact, there are numerous franchises where the third movie is often considered superior to the second one, such as in the “Die Hard” series and the “Indiana Jones” films.
I sincerely believe that this series has the potential to match that esteemed club with another installment, one that addresses the flaws of its predecessor by simplifying its narrative, increasing the humor, and potentially reprising Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis for a brief appearance. To be frank, the notion of a trilogy crossed my mind the moment the final film’s title was revealed officially, as it suggests we might get a movie titled “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice“, if it gets approved for production.
I’m open to the idea of reviving the concept for Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian, a sequel that was first proposed back in the early 1990s, as IGN remembers. The original plan had the Deetzes launching a resort where Betelgeuse would cause chaos with evil spirits. However, the story could be reimagined to focus on Lydia (Winona Ryder) and her daughter, Astrid (Jenna Ortega), venturing into the tropical vacation industry. As far as I’m concerned, as long as Michael Keaton is involved, I’ll definitely tune in.
