The new The Lord of the Rings movie has received a fresh update.
After watching the animated film titled “The War of the Rohirrim” last year, Warner Bros Discovery is eagerly moving forward with additional films within this series.
I’m excited about the upcoming storytelling piece that delves deeper into Gollum/Sméagol’s history, apparently taking place between the ‘The Hobbit’ films and the main trilogy.
As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a thrill of anticipation about the upcoming movie titled “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.” From what I gather, it seems like things are progressing smoothly backstage, and the co-chairmen/CEOs, Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, can’t contain their excitement, as they shared with Deadline.
Just had an awesome chat with Philippa Boyens regarding Gollum, and I’m excitedly anticipating receiving the script next month, possibly in May, as Abdy mentioned!

He mentioned they’ll start preparing their project later in the current year. Preparation can take anywhere from six to seven months, after which they’ll begin filming the following year. This timeline implies a release date of around December 2027.
In these upcoming movies, there’s a possibility that you might recognize more than just Andy Serkis among the cast, since Ian McKellen has expressed interest in reprising his role as Gandalf, who is rumored to appear in at least one of the forthcoming films.
Orlando Bloom has expressed his enthusiasm about potentially reprising the role of Legolas, saying, “If Peter Jackson asks me to do something, I’m ready to respond without hesitation. He was instrumental in launching my career. I’m not sure about their plans yet.
“I did speak to Andy [Serkis], and he did say they were thinking about how to do things.”
