In season 3, episode 18, the conflict between Bode and Manny against Oxalta stirred up problems for the Leones and the families of Three Rock’s prisoners. However, the resolution of this conflict surprisingly validated those who criticized Bode for initiating a noble fight were mistaken. Introduced as the antagonist in season 3, episode 15, Oxalta was revealed to be responsible for poisoning Three Rock’s well, making all inmates extremely ill due to Eve and Sharon’s discovery. This revelation sparked questions that drew attention from Oxalta and its legal team, leading to challenging negotiations that jeopardized the survival of Three Rock multiple times.

With Violet’s assistance, Sharon successfully persuaded Oxalta to clean up Three Rock, compensate Birch’s family, and secure Manny’s early release from prison before his term ended, a deal that made her believe she had safeguarded Three Rock and its inmates. But the money that Sharon worked hard to obtain, which indirectly led Manny to accept Oxalta’s agreement – since his other options were jail or freedom, which could only be attained by signing Oxalta’s NDA – was seen as questionable by Bode, creating a strain in one of Bode’s strongest relationships. The 18th episode of “Fire Country” season 3 resolved the dispute cleverly by exonerating Bode.

Bode Is Finally Seen As Someone Following His Moral Compass, Not Just Stirring Trouble

In the seventeenth episode of season 3 in ‘Fire Country’, Sharon and Bode found themselves arguing intensely, to such an extent that Sharon initiated a new strategy during a phone call, which appeared to contradict Bode’s suggestions. The truce at the end of the episode was short-lived when Meriwether disclosed Bode and Manny’s plan in front of Sharon and Vince. This incident made Sharon realize the importance of closely monitoring Bode, a decision that went against her previous understanding with Vince, as she felt his decisions were misguided.

As a film enthusiast, I must admit, I’d previously doubted Bode’s vision, viewing it as overly idealistic and destined for failure. However, Sharon’s unexpected involvement in their scheme to expose Meriwether’s harassment towards the Three Rock inmates’ families showed that she had finally placed her trust in Bode’s vision. To put it simply, she decided to join forces with them, not just seeking justice in a legal sense, but attempting to sway public opinion as well.

Moreover, Sharon’s actions demonstrated that she was now able to look past the young Bode I once knew—the one who made mistakes leading to his imprisonment. Instead, she began to see him as a mature individual capable of making his own decisions and standing up for what he believed in.

What Bode’s New Image Means For Fire Country’s Future

Bode’s Relationships With His Family Can Change For The Better

In Fire Country’s third season, episode 18, Bode’s actions exposing Oxalta’s criminal activities have transformed him into a hero for the people of Edgewater and beyond, demonstrating that being idealistic can sometimes lead to positive outcomes, as his past experiences in prison continue to shape his image. Some still perceive him primarily as an ex-con, but others recognize his potential.

In “Fire Country” season 4, this shift could significantly alter how Sharon perceives Bode. Since she has consistently backed him throughout the first three seasons, it’s clear that she also saw Bode as a potential danger to himself due to her attempts to curb his more harmful instincts. Unlike Vince who accepted Bode’s transformation in season 1 of “Fire Country,” Sharon never experienced that turning point. However, her support for Bode in the 18th episode of season 3 hints at a future where everyone in Edgewater might finally see Bode based on his current actions rather than his past missteps.
