Dune spoilers follow.
Florence Pugh has confirmed her return as Princess Irulan in Dune 3.
In the science fiction sequel, it was Princess Irulan, daughter of Emperor Shaddam IV (portrayed by Christopher Walken), who made an appearance. Towards the end of the film, she consented to marry Paul Atreides (played by Timothée Chalamet) under the condition that he would spare her father’s life.
Despite primarily being in the background during the film, Pugh anticipates taking on a larger part in Dune 3, as filming is set to start this summer.
When discussing her character, the actor shared with Harper’s Bazaar: “I’m eager for us to explore more of her. I’d love to have even more stylish wardrobe options!

In previous discussions, Director Denis Villeneuve has revealed that the character of the princess will take on a more significant role in the upcoming Dune trilogy, likening this development to the part played by Zendaya’s character, Chani.
Absolutely, if our vision for a “Dune Messiah” sequel comes to fruition, Irulan is expected to play a significant role throughout the series. In an interview with Moviefone, he mentioned that he’s drawing some inspiration from what he did with Zendaya in the initial film.

In Dune, I initially present Chani as a character, and she evolves into a primary figure in Part Two. Similarly, Florence is introduced in Part Two, and should there be a Dune Messiah, she too would assume a significant role.
Additionally, Jason Momoa once again assumes his character in the sequel, Duncan Idaho – a role he previously played until his demise in the initial film. In the original Dune novels by Frank Herbert, Duncan Idaho is resurrected as a ghola, an artificially recreated human, as a present to Paul.
The actor announced his comeback during a press event for “A Minecraft Movie,” saying to TODAY: “I can’t say for sure if it’ll cause any trouble, but it’s similar to ‘Game of Thrones.’ If you haven’t read the source material, I can’t be held responsible, can I? I’m set to return.
Dune 3 is set to be released on December 18, 2026.
