Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler on Stranger Things, expressed feeling “really puzzled and upset” regarding the conclusion of his character in season 5.
In 2025, it’s expected that the popular Netflix sci-fi show will debut its fifth and last season on their streaming platform. However, specific storyline details are being closely guarded.
Due to a trailer that came out last year, we have learned that the finale will resume in the fall of 1987, approximately 18 months following the season four cliffhanger in March 1986.
In the finale of season four, it was Eleven who managed to overpower Vecna. However, before this victory, Vecna had already set in motion his scheme to create a connection between Hawkins and the Upside Down, suggesting that the town’s ultimate confrontation with him is yet to come.
In an interview with People magazine, Wolfhard shared his feelings about Mike’s conclusion: “I felt incredibly content, yet puzzled and melancholic at the same time. However, there was also a sense of immense joy.

Expressing his feelings about wrapping up the series permanently, Gaten Matarazzo – known for portraying Mike Wheeler since the debut of Stranger Things in July 2016 – admitted that it was a significant and emotional experience.
He continued, “It seemed as if I were in a surreal state, almost like a dream. Everything felt unreal and oddly perfect.
Speaking about his final scenes, Wolfhard expressed: “I simply couldn’t grasp it at all. It didn’t fully sink in until the following day. It was almost like a lingering emotional aftereffect. However, everything wrapped up nicely, and I have only wonderful things to share about everyone involved.

On the final day, everyone remained, and we were all present. It was truly delightful sharing that moment with everyone.
Currently, the Duffer Brothers have hinted at a deeply emotional scene for Max (played by Sadie Sink) in the final episode of the series. They commented: “We shot a scene yesterday with her that was incredibly moving and heart-wrenching. I’m not sure how she manages to deliver those powerful performances.
Stranger Things Seasons 1-4 are currently streaming on Netflix, with a sixth and concluding season in production. Meanwhile, “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” is set to run until September 7, 2025, at the Phoenix Theatre in London. Book your tickets now!
