Heather Graham Supports Accusers of James Toback

Westerns are a field where anything can be achieved, folks. Notably, renowned actress Heather Graham is no exception to this rule. With roots tracing back to the eras of ‘Twin Peaks’ and ‘Drugstore Cowboy’, Graham has made an indelible mark on the screen through numerous projects, spanning almost every film genre. This versatility extends to the Western genre as well. In 2024, during an interview with MovieWeb about ‘Place of Bones’, and now in her role as the female lead in another Western titled ‘Gunslingers’. The movie also features Nicolas Cage and Stephen Dorff, who portrays Graham’s romantic interest, so to speak.

As a movie enthusiast, I’d put it this way: “In the gritty world of ‘Gunslingers’, I, Val (played by Graham), find myself entangled in a web of relationships that’s as intricate as a spider’s web. My character has a complicated history with Thomas, Dorff’s menacing gunslinger persona, and things get even more complex when we learn that his brother, Robert, played by Jeremy Kent Jackson, also shares a tumultuous past with me. To add more fuel to the fire, Robert isn’t just a brother but also has romantic feelings for me. So, it only makes sense to bring all these volatile characters together in a blood-soaked Kentucky town, where the bullets start flying and the plot thickens, setting the stage for the intense action of the movie.

In essence, Jeremy’s character has harbored feelings of jealousy and inferiority towards Stephen Dorff’s character throughout the story. This might be due to the fact that Jeremy was initially connected with Thomas, but then Thomas encountered trouble and left, followed by Jeremy being with Robert. As a result, there is a palpable tension between them. Sadly, Robert grew increasingly abusive as he aged, and Jeremy’s character yearns to escape him, both for the sake of protecting his daughter and himself. However, there’s a strong desire within the character to reconnect with Thomas, who they believe to be the love of their life. Previously, they were led to believe that Thomas was deceased, but upon discovery that he is alive, they are making every effort to locate him.

Graham’s acting career spans over several decades, having collaborated with many well-known film directors. One of these directors, James Toback, has recently made headlines due to a jury decision that orders him to pay $1.68 billion following accusations of sexual assault by 40 women. Graham appeared in Toback’s 1997 film “Two Guys and a Guy,” starring alongside Robert Downey Jr.

Graham commented on the Toback news, stating she finds it satisfying when individuals who act wrongly face consequences. She went on to share her experience with an agent facing sexual harassment charges, which she felt were unjustly dismissed. However, she expressed relief that such offenders are now being held accountable, as she believes this was not often the case when she started in the industry. Graham also praised those who bravely came forward with their stories, acknowledging it’s difficult for women to do so in such situations.
