Viral gacha game Brown Dust 2 isn’t what you think, really

Brown Dust 2, a popular gacha game, gained widespread attention following the release of a video showcasing its latest character, Iron Mornach Wilhelmina. However, there’s more to it than meets the eye.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve likely crossed paths with the captivating game, Brown Dust 2, even if it wasn’t previously on my radar. The recent sneak peek of its latest character, Iron Mornach Wilhelmina, has been sweeping through social media like wildfire, and it’s not hard to see why. But what exactly is Brown Dust 2, and how does it manage to defy our assumptions? Let’s delve a bit deeper into this intriguing title.

Queen of Beirun, Iron Mornach Wilhelmina

First, let’s talk about the video that went viral.

The following is a promotional video showcasing the latest character, Queen Wilhelmina of Beirun, also known as Iron Mornach. Noticeably, the angle in which she’s presented may raise some eyebrows.

At the moment I’m writing this, the post on X has already amassed an impressive 23.6 million views and over 110k likes, more than a week since it was initially shared. The video, which is just a minute and 12 seconds long, features a brief glimpse of Wilhelmina’s backside. Remarkably, this snippet has managed to capture the attention of people far beyond the usual gaming community, causing quite a stir online.

The remainder of the video showcased an unexpected type of gameplay for her and the other main characters.

Is Brown Dust 2 a “gooner” game?

While the character designs themselves do give off that vibe, the gameplay does not.

Brown Dust 2’s in-game adventure feels similar to games such as Octopath Traveler. The characters are depicted as adorable, miniature versions known as chibis. As you journey through diverse landscapes and zones within the game, these chibis allow for exploration, interactions with non-player characters (NPCs), and the search for adversaries.

The gameplay unfolds in rounds, much like a strategy role-playing game such as Fire Emblem, where each move is taken in turns. Notably, it incorporates gacha elements, meaning that specific characters can be obtained within a limited duration.

Iron Mornach Wilhelmina’s trailer evokes a strong sense of being reminiscent of an Arsenal fan (“gooner”) for the game, but it’s not the only one.

The game is available on PC, iOS, and Android.

Community reactions to Brown Dust 2 trailer

Nonetheless, the reactions of some users on the internet to the promotional video are hilarious.

“the gacha goon wars continue this is ridiculous,” posted user @Shinken_Oh.

@DynamoSuperX” says, “This is so poorly done that even Marvel movies seem like Disney Junior cartoons in comparison. The level of amateurishness is appalling.

Even the official account leaned into it.

Do you think Brown Dust 2 is a “gooner” game?
