Whoopi Goldberg Reveals Shocking Reason Some Want The View Canceled – You Won’t Believe It!
On television discussion shows like The View, the female co-hosts often express strong opinions, and they understand not everyone may share those views. Even its award-winning host, Whoopi Goldberg, acknowledges there are people who want to end The View’s broadcast.
Hosting the morning series for Raven-Symoné wasn’t a walk in the park; she encountered numerous issues with it. However, this show has been a mainstay on ABC’s daytime schedule since 1997, despite its distinctive nature, and it doesn’t seem to be facing imminent cancellation. During an episode, Whoopi Goldberg addressed concerns about the show’s future by commenting on California governor Gavin Newsom’s podcast drama. She suggested that disagreements often arise because viewers make sweeping assumptions about the hosts without fully understanding their perspectives.
She began her point like this, which sparked some audible confusion from Joy Behar:
People assume that we believe whatever they believe that we believe.
Once it was clear her point wasn’t so swiftly relayed, Goldberg tried again:
People often assume they understand all my thoughts and beliefs, but they don’t. A key method for discovering someone’s ideas is simply by listening to them speak. One frequent comment heard is, “You ought to cancel The View from TV.” Why? Because we provide a platform. We do not dictate what you should think. Instead, we offer diverse perspectives that allow you to form your own opinions.
Goldberg isn’t implying that The View‘s panel of expressive personalities never offers opinionated commentary, as it wouldn’t make sense for the show to persist if it did not. If these four to six women were simply sitting quietly and politely next to each other, the viewership would likely decline, leading to the cancellation of the program.
Indeed, ardent followers of The View primarily tune in to catch the unique perspectives and bold comments made by Whoopi Goldberg and her co-hosts on trending news topics from both entertainment and politics. Essentially, Goldberg was acknowledging that the hosts openly express their personal judgments and opinions, but she wasn’t suggesting that others should necessarily agree with them. She went on to say:
In simpler terms, instead of saying ‘This is what I think!’ we can also say ‘I believe this to be true.’ or ‘Here’s my opinion.’ So, Alyssa will say ‘I believe this to be true.’ and Joy will say the same. This way of speaking establishes a consistent dialogue that isn’t meant to be taken personally. For example, if someone says ‘That shirt looks a little tight on you, Whoopi,’ it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re being rude; they might just be pointing out an observation.
It’s plausible that an individual might review the last 28 years of The View episodes and find instances where statements were made that contradict Goldberg’s viewpoint. However, these instances would be better categorized as exceptions rather than the general trend or rule.
A simple approach to prevent discussions from becoming emotionally charged is by ensuring they stay focused on the subject at hand, rather than straying into areas that go beyond the main topic. This is a method she suggested.
However, things can turn unpleasant when individuals take a personal interest in you or your loved ones. The key distinction is that such behavior isn’t tolerated here. Others might project their actions onto us, assuming we do the same to them. But rest assured, we don’t engage in such behavior.
It might be intriguing to learn the thoughts of past hosts regarding the methods used backstage, given Candace Cameron-Bure’s strong stance on not returning despite repeated invitations, and Meghan McCain’s frequent criticisms about behind-the-scenes issues, along with her assertion that she would never return.
Every morning, viewers have the chance to tune into “The View” on ABC. If you have a Hulu subscription, you can also catch up on the latest episodes from the past week online.
