On Wednesday, the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner announced that Trachtenberg’s death was due to diabetes-related complications. The Times has corroborated this information, and it is known that diabetes mellitus involves a set of health conditions where the body has trouble managing blood sugar levels, as explained by the Mayo Clinic.

In our office, we didn’t share details regarding the particular issues that caused Trachtenberg’s passing. However, it was determined by authorities that her demise was a natural one.

Following Trachtenberg’s unexpected passing, it was stated by the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner that they would not be able to definitively determine the cause and manner of her death due to the wishes of her family, who had asked for this privacy out of religious considerations. At the time, an autopsy on the actress from “The Adventures of Pete & Pete” was not carried out for these reasons.

Born to immigrant parents in Brooklyn, where he spoke both English and Russian, Trachtenberg was often identified as Jewish. In this religious tradition, it’s commonly believed that autopsies aren’t conducted since the body is considered sacred and it’s thought disrespectful to alter it after death.

If there’s no hint of wrongdoing regarding the cause of death, the medical examiner will respect the objections raised,” a representative stated in a declaration from February.

The office declined to comment straight away on The Times’ query regarding if they conducted an autopsy to ascertain Trachtenberg’s cause and manner of death. However, they stated that their findings were arrived at after examining the results from laboratory tests.

I will forever love you.” Actors such as Ed Westwick, David Boreanaz, Kenan Thompson, Kim Cattrall, and Melissa Gilbert were among those who paid tribute to Trachtenberg.
