Kate Cassidy Shares Liam Payne’s Heartbreaking Final Words and His Struggles in New Interview

Kate Cassidy disclosed the haunting last remarks that Liam Payne made to her during their farewell in Argentina, which took place only a few days prior to his passing.

The 25-year-old influencer has been openly discussing her grieving process with her followers since the singer passed away in October. In a recent conversation, she frankly explained the depth of his battles with mental health issues and substance abuse.

In her recent chat on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, she shared that the last words from the One Direction member brought her a mix of ‘sorrow and tranquility’.

Reflecting on their habit, the couple often took lengthy farewells, even when they were only separating for a single night, she mused about their last goodbye when she departed from Argentina to return to Florida.

She recounted: ‘I reminisced about being with him, talking endlessly about my affection for him, and he chuckled before interrupting me, saying something akin to: “Kate, don’t forget you’ll miss your flight if you don’t hurry, your car is in the driveway.”‘

He then added: ‘You’re acting like this is the last time you are ever gone see me again.’ 

Without realizing what was about to unfold, Kate replied with a laugh. Yet, knowing now that it was the final moment she’d ever share with him sends a shiver down her spine.

She remarked: “I feel incredibly fortunate that our farewell was so heartfelt. I wouldn’t have wished for it to be any other way in our last goodbye. I’m overjoyed we shared those precious moments, and I wouldn’t trade them for anything.

In another part of the interview, Kate revealed the genuine depth of the celebrity’s battles with mental health and substance abuse, stating: ‘He’d make progress, but then he’d slip up.’

He had the potential to improve himself, but there seemed to be a point where his mood would suddenly change. Upon waking up each morning, he found himself feeling differently.

In contrast to Liam’s preference for staying indoors, Kate shared that it frequently fell on her to motivate him to step out of their residence. This included convincing him to avoid spending too much time in bed, whether it was at home or in a hotel room.

She admitted honestly, “At times it was more than I could handle, because I’m not a trained expert, nor have I ever been one. And, let me tell you, I’m still quite young. I simply did my best in every situation.

‘It’s essential to understand that no one else can mend or heal another person; the power to change lies solely within them.’

You can be there for them during good times and bad, offering assistance and comfort, yet it’s important to remember that you don’t have the power to heal their addictions or mental health issues.

To truly assist and nurture someone else, it’s essential to also make sure you take care of yourself. At times, I might overlook this self-care aspect.

On October 16, Liam tragically lost his life following a prolonged period of excessive alcohol and drug use at the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires.

Regarding addiction, Kate stated that if he had the option to remain sober for the remainder of his life, he definitely would have.

At the start of our connection, there were moments when I struggled to grasp what was happening, leading me to internally express something along the lines of “Isn’t there a way you could avoid doing that?” However, I soon realized that the situation wasn’t as straightforward as simply asking for a change.

It took me a while, but I eventually understood that this was a decision beyond his control. During the day, things would go wonderfully, but later at night, an event would transpire that seemed to trigger something within him, leading him to act in ways he couldn’t resist.
