ROCKED: The Who Axes Drummer Zak Starkey After Devastating On-Stage Fail
It has been reported that Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, members of the band The Who, have dismissed drummer Zak Starkey after a significant disagreement.
Following several decades of performing together, the band has recently decided to go their separate ways with Zak, who is 59 years old. The disagreement occurred following the band’s last two performances at the Royal Albert Hall.
A representative shared with The Mirror that the group mutually agreed to end their collaboration with Zak following the concerts at the Royal Albert Hall. They hold Zak in high regard and extend their warmest wishes for his future endeavors.
Nevertheless, the reported choice to dismiss Zak, a member of the band for nearly three decades, is said to have left him feeling quite distressed.
The insider went on to add: ‘It’s a little acrimonious to say the least.’
It has been reportedly suggested that there were doubts about Zak’s drumming performances during the concerts last month.

Meanwhile, spectators were greatly enjoying the performances that supported Roger’s Teenage Cancer Trust charity, but an insider hinted at some challenges related to drumming and the quality fell short of expectations.
On the contrary, another report highlights that the departure of exceptionally skilled Zak could significantly shake up the band, as his dismissal appears to be inexplicable.
TopMob have contacted representatives of The Who for comment.
Zak is the son of Beatles legend Ringo Starr and Maureen Starkey Tigrett.
In January, when Zak first spoke out after canceling performances due to his blood clot diagnosis, he expressed concern that he might not survive.
Zak was all set to perform with his group Mantra of the Cosmos, featuring Shaun Ryder from Happy Mondays (aged 62), Andy Bell from Oasis (aged 54), percussionist Mark ‘Bez’ Berry (aged 60), and Noel Gallagher (aged 57) – but he was halted by a concerning health warning.
It lead to him to withdraw from a London gig, hours ahead of showtime.
He’s disclosed that a blood clot in his right leg necessitated a two-week rest as per doctor’s advice, and he’s been given medication to thin his blood due to the potentially dangerous health problem.

Initially, I believed I might have strained my hamstring since the discomfort originated from my knee, but an MRI scan revealed no issues, and an ultrasound confirmed it the following day. I shared this sequence of events with TopMob.
It turned out that the event needed to be cancelled abruptly, and I was instructed to leave immediately. Since I’m currently on blood thinners, it was hoped that this would help, but it wasn’t the most favorable update I received.
I’m feeling somewhat anxious, as they mentioned it might take a few weeks for things to settle down. There’s a concern that if moved carelessly, it could collide with something significant. However, it should be able to dissipate on its own under normal circumstances.
‘If it hits your lungs or your heart or your brain you’re in deep sh**. Or deep earth.’
