In yesterday’s (April 15th) edition of This Morning, Lewis discussed the common fairy tale character of the ‘evil stepmother’ with presenters Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond. This financial expert openly shared insights from his own life experiences on this topic.
Back in 1986, at age 14, I welcomed my stepmother into our family. It wasn’t the typical stereotype that was challenging; instead, it was the heartache of losing my mother that made her arrival difficult for me.
My stepmother acted perfectly in every way, but I never wished for her to be around because of where she was and the hardships we faced. I recall an instance when she removed some family pictures from our home.
He mentioned that he has a good relationship with his stepmother who remains part of his life, and he is delighted to have a lovely young half-sister. It’s all just wonderful for him.
Regarding the broader discussion, he confessed his frustration that the focus seems to be solely on the stepmother, when in fact, there are children present.
We were all one united family. After losing our mother, we lived with my father. It was tough on his new wife, but it was equally difficult for me, a 14-year-old dealing with post-traumatic stress and grief.
She performed admirably, and our relationship has improved significantly since then. However, initially, I wasn’t comfortable with her presence, and I believe it’s reasonable to have felt that way back then.
More casually, Lewis, who additionally runs his own program, lately expressed backing for his spouse Lara Lewington following the revamp of Click, the BBC’s tech show, and the introduction of a fresh hosting duo.
