A significant number of famous personalities, among them Olivia Munn, Emily Ratajkowski, Kesha, and Katy Perry, have openly criticized the Blue Origin spaceflight in public.

On Monday, the 11-minute journey was undertaken by Perry, along with Lauren Sanchez, Gayle King, civil rights advocate Amanda Nguyen, ex-rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn.

Flight NS-31 represents the initial voyage led by a completely female crew since Russian cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova embarked on her solo space journey in 1963.

Critics, primarily high-profile individuals, have heavily criticized the project, labeling it as extravagant and harmful to the planet. Many are questioning its purpose within our society.

Emily Ratajkowski

Actress and model Emily Ratajkowski, aged 33, voiced criticism towards the project on Monday, expressing her disgust with it via a post on TikTok.

‘That space mission this morning? That’s end time s**t. Like, this is beyond parody,’ she ranted.

It seems you’re passionate about preserving our planet, yet you’re traveling in a spacecraft funded and constructed by a corporation known for its destructive impact on Earth.

Ratajkowski expressed puzzlement over the reason for this swift mission: “Observe the current condition of our world and ponder on the amount of resources invested to send these women into space.

‘For what? What was the marketing there?’ 

She added: ‘And then to try to make it like… I’m disgusted, literally I’m disgusted.’ 

 

Olivia Munn 

Recently, actress Olivia Munn expressed criticism towards an upcoming space mission during her appearance on “Today With Jenna And Friends”.

She asked, “What are their actions? In other words, can you explain their reasons?” She added, “Although it might not be fashionable to say this, there are numerous other significant matters demanding our attention at present.

Munn then added: ‘What are you going to do up in space? What are you doing up there?’

The mom of two likened the event to a thrilling Disneyland ride, then pondered aloud as to why those involved felt compelled to share their experiences with others, rather than simply embarking, enjoying themselves, and returning without fuss.

She pointed out that although it might seem excessive, the cost of going to space is incredibly high compared to basic necessities like food, such as eggs, for many people.

Host Jenna Bush Hager shared the news that their all-female space crew would be launching in an elegant fashion, a fact that left Olivia momentarily perplexed.

‘They are getting their hair done, their makeup done, even eyelash extensions,’ Hager continued.

Munn was left speechless once again and then questioned: ‘They said this out loud?’

The actress subtly nodded without speaking, and Hager jokingly commented, “Definitely, and plenty of eyelash adhesive to secure that look so perfectly. It’s just all I can think about.

 

Fast food chain Wendy’s 

Not just her peers, but also Wendy’s, a popular fast-food chain, made fun of Katy Perry and the Blue Origin space mission.

On the official social media platform of the burger restaurant, they responded to a picture of Katy Perry wearing a space suit, posted by Pop Crave, with the caption “Katy Perry is back from space.

Wendy’s responded with a comment that read: ‘Can we send her back.’

Wendy’s shared pictures of Katy Perry planting a kiss on the earth upon her return, with the caption “I kissed the ground and I liked it,” referencing her song “I Kissed A Girl.

 

Kesha

Kesha, 38, piled onto the drama, posting a snap of herself enjoying a Wendy’s shake and smiling. 

Kesha recently took a dig at Perry, following the news of Perry’s controversial reunion with Dr. Luke. This reunion occurred years after Dr. Luke settled a defamation suit with Kesha in 2023, stemming from Kesha’s accusations in a 2014 lawsuit that he had sexually and physically abused her.

Perry teamed up with a music expert for her unsuccessful return album titled 143. Earlier, they had joined forces on popular songs like “I Kissed a Girl” (2008), “California Gurls” (2010), and “Roar” (2013).

In September, Katy clarified the debate about her collaboration with the producer, stating emphatically that her song lyrics are based on her personal life experiences and do not align with the producer’s viewpoints.

Comedian Amy Schumer jumped into the criticism, posting videos where she jokingly mimicked the endeavor and appeared to be participating herself.

Folks, it’s me! I can hardly contain my excitement because just now, they’ve unexpectedly blasted me off into the cosmos!” I shared in a video on social media, brandishing a sleek black panther toy – a playful jab at Katy, who carried a daisy to symbolize her little one Daisy.

‘I’m taking this item with me. It doesn’t hold any significance for me, but it was in my bag while I was on the subway and I received a text asking if I wanted to go to space, so I’ll be going to space.’

‘Thank you to everyone who got me here, I’ll see you guys in space.’  

In another video segment, Schumer appeared reclining on a medical bed within a doctor’s office, persistently discussing the mission while her words seemed muddled and unclear, hinting at possible sedation or anesthesia effects.

She expressed: “I’m about to venture into space, and I’m absolutely thrilled! Lauren Sanchez, Katy Perry, and Amanda Nguyen have been my inspirations throughout this incredible journey. This morning, I was invited to join the space team, and I couldn’t be happier about it!

I’ve harbored a lifelong dream of traveling to space. It’s just fascinating how someone came up with the name “space” for it, as if saying, “What should we call it? It’s so expansive, you know.” And they replied, “That’s it! Let’s call it space.” I can’t help but wonder if they could have chosen a more imaginative title. But nevertheless, I’m excited that I’ll get to go there soon.
